MyKeyBe Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The Thunderbird was created to compete with the Corvette. The Camaro was created to compete with the Mustang. The Corvette is a sports car and the Mustang is a Muscle car (or pony car). That Ferrari does look like a Corvette and I think both are ugly. Either way the 2013 Shelby GT 500 will be 650hp and is probably going to cost around $60.000. For those who can afford it, that's going to be a hell of a deal. Quote

MyKeyBe Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 What Legend? Is Acura coming out with a new Legend? Do you mean new NSX? Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 3, 2012 Super User Posted March 3, 2012 Back in '06 I had to fly to LA for a meeting. They happened to have a Hertz Mustang for rent. I forget what the model was, but the one with the gold stripes down the hood. That car was an absolute hunk of junk. I honestly should have rented a little sport ute instead. Quote

MyKeyBe Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 They happened to have a Hertz Mustang for rent. That car was an absolute hunk of junk. Ever seen a rental that wasn't? If you could rent a Ferrari or any sports car, it would be beat to death within a week. I'm not trying to say a Mustang is a Ferrari. It isn't. Never has been never will be. All I'm saying is 650hp from the factory with a warranty for $60.000 is a lot of bang for the buck. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted March 3, 2012 Super User Posted March 3, 2012 Supercharged Tundra from the factory has over 500 with a factory warranty and is under 50K, AND will pull a boat! Jeff 1 Quote

River Rat316 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 my current 91 ranger that I bought for $600 and have been driving for over a year beats them all, I used to be a gear head, and maybe will be again some day when I have the time, but right now I am on a lets see how cheap I can get around for kick. My idea of a cool car is way different anyway, I like the guy that takes a complete POS like my ranger and puts a v-8 in it, works some other areas and is a force on the street with a car that he has less than 5g into. My driver before the ranger was a m3 with some work done, and while it was a fun car and would have made that vette look even slower on that autocross course it wasn't my cup of tea, to many looks from cops and other for my tastes Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 4, 2012 Super User Posted March 4, 2012 If I was to get into another 'fun' car it would more than likely be a completely redone 1970 Dodge Charger. And I mean no bolt would be left untouched. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 4, 2012 Super User Posted March 4, 2012 I know, I know, its a Ferrari. But, I am NOT impressed... Looks like a Corvette. http://editorial.aut...?ocid=ansauto11 You're insanse! It looks nothing like a Vette and everything like a Berlinetta of years gone by. There are many, many cars in Ferrarri's rich history that carry that similar styling. 550 Maranello, 250 GT Berllinetta, 365 GTS 4, 612 Scaglietti. You could even say that the 430 is similarly styled. That said, all I want for Christmas is a 458 Italia in black on black. Quote

tipptruck1 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Rob if your going to do it right go for plum crazy purple. I am not a muscle car fan. I cant stand cars that go fast in the 1/4 mile only. I so wish you luck though in what ever color you choose. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 5, 2012 Super User Posted March 5, 2012 '70 Charger? With a numbers matching Hemi? Paint it the color spec'd on the build sheet. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 5, 2012 Super User Posted March 5, 2012 70's Charger black/black leather. It'll have an updated suspension, massive 6 pod brakes and a built motor. The interior will be an homage to the stock interior. I like Schott wheels so will probably have them make a set. Won't happen for a while, as I'm getting ready to move next month, so a new house remodel is what I'm currently looking forward to. Quote

I know they're ridiculously overdone now, but I just love the lines of those cars. Would be a fun project to work on with my dad and then just hand him the keys after. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted March 6, 2012 Super User Posted March 6, 2012 Overdone is right, makes me think a better project would be a chevy coupe Quote

Stringjam Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 The only thing I don't like about it is the paddle shifters.....and no standard manual transmission available. I know the paddles are quicker....but really, if I'm going to buy a sports car it's going to be for one thing -- because it's FUN TO DRIVE, and grabbing gears is part of the fun! I'm not interested in knocking 1/4 sec. off my times at Nurburgring. Unfortunately it seems to be the trend among all the European makers....paddles or nothing. Quote
