Diggy Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I am returning some items to bass pro for credit or return on my card (about 300) Im confused on what I should do....my plan was to return and get a 201e7 chronarch to put on my Veritas and a vendetta rod to put my Revo on. I need a 7 ratio lh reel. Of course they dont have it in stock.(I may call again later and see if any came into the store) 1. I could either get a different reel (JM sig series, quantum smoke and the vendetta rod) 2. get 2 lesser reels such as a PQ / enigma/ reccomentations and the vendetta...this would give me 4 total reels for all of my fishing worries 3. or get money back on my debit card and buy chronarch and rod from gander and it works out the same (they have in stock) option 2 would end up as: Revo sx on the vendetta- 6ratio citica on a Berkley LR- 6 ratio enigma/PQ on cranking rod- 5 ratio enigma/PQ on Veritas- 7 ratio Im going there later on in the afternoon so I have time, thanks for any advice *edit* problem solved Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 It sounds like you don't have a ton of tackle. What do you have for setups? To cover most all the basics in bass fishing your goal should be: a MH/F baitcast rod and 6.4 or 7:1 reel for jigs and plastics>1/2 oz MH/Mod baitcast rod with a 5:1 reel for deep cranks and other trebel hook lures M/F spinning rod and reel for baits<1/2 oz Forget the Enigma, and grab a low ratio PQ, a Pflueger President spinning reel and spend the balance on rods with the budget scewed toward the spinning rod since sensitivity and feel are less important for the moving baits. Diggy Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 As of right now I have a 6.4sx revo on a veritas carbonlite 6.4 reel on carbonlite mh rod---going back JM carbonlite 7.1 RH----tried the right hand thing for a day but cant do it so its going back shimano citica on a tec spec cranking rod--- Reeless Berkley Lightning rod Spinning setup was president reel on a calico jack rod, but I gave to my dad Quote
The Rooster Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Those Enigma reels are graphite frames. Just thought you may want to know. It's a deal breaker for me. Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 29, 2012 Super User Posted February 29, 2012 There are some who dislike Quantum reels and thats ok but don't let it discourage you from a Quantum Smoke, My 150 7.3:1 is on my jig and worm rod but also gets used when I burn spinnerbaits and the reel is a machine!! It also has the added benefit of giving my combo that nice stealthy look. The 100 size Smoke is also a really nice reel, and in my opinion is the best reel Quantum ever made. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I'd still stick with PQs on sale for Lightening and one along with a M/F casting rod if you don't wan't any spinning tackle. Quote
The Rooster Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 The new Enigma has an aluminum frame. Hootie The 2012 Bass Pro catalog says it has-----a rugged, all graphite low profile body, double anodized aluminum spool, 8 bearing system with double shielded stainless steel ball bearings and powerlock instant anti reverse, aluminum recurve handle and drag star, padded thumbar and a powerful drag system. In that description there is no mention of an aluminum frame. It actually says "all graphite body". But yet the website says it does have it. So which is it?? Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 29, 2012 Super User Posted February 29, 2012 PQ over the Enigma all day. I own both, so personal experience, Im for the PQ. Have you tried going online for a Curado 201E? Might find a good deal. Ive heard amazing things about that Smoke reel. Quote

I was told it is aluminum. The catalog is a misprint. Hootie Quote
Megastink Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I need a 7 ratio lh reel. You know they make a 7.1:1 LH Revo SX, right???? Not sure in the BPS reel trade in is still happening, but Abu is offering $30 off Premier, STX or SX reel purchased until next month. I think that that is your best bet. Hell, you could buy TWO OF THEM after rebate! Hope that helps! PS- if they dont hae it in stock, they should be able to order it and have it shipped to the store for FREE. Cheers! Quote
bassh8er Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Agreed. You can do the free ship to store and they'll call you when it's in; that's how I got my new Extreme and KVD 1.5s in the new colors before they hit my local BPS shelves. I'm a huge PQ fan, and bought a new Extreme this year to try something new out without too much of a budget hit and because I've heard a lot of good things about them. The Exteme may be up your alley, but I'd lean towards the PQ because it's a proven reel for me. Quote
Diggy Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 I ended up with one 7.1 PQ and the Vendetta for now, they didnt have any 5s but I should be okay for a few weeks. Thanks for the help Quote
