The "chatterbait" was named by 5 different members, possibly more than any other lure (it's one lure I never bought).

During the passion of its mighty liftoff, I dared to say that the chatterbait will likely be a passing fancy.

I was summarily assaulted for making that statement, but now it's the chatterbait's turn in the barrel ;D

Anything Topwater

although i love the bite, they have just always been the least productive thing so i started using them less and less and now not at all.

Spinnerbaits. Maybe because I rarely fish windy days, but they are here when I need them. Also any crankbait that dives more than 6 feet.

Anything that has to do with live bait.  It's been years since I have used a bobber or any of my bait holder hooks.

the sad thing is, someone is going to see one or two of these listed that we're NOT using to catch fish, and think "hmm, I don't have one of thhose, I need ot go get one and try it" and the bait monkey still wins...

as for me, I hardly catch anytihng on spinner baits or jigs, so they don't get used much. I havn't caught, or even had a good strike on a buzz bait this year, and I don't throw cranks much either, so any of those are jsut collecting right now.

For me, it's plastics. Crankbaits, and spinnerbaits have been putting a TON of fish in my boat, so I haven't used any plastics.

Pop-R's. Used to be one of my favorites but since trying the Rage Shad, I don't think I've thrown one in 2 years. I keep a Z-Too rigged as a back up.

I don't own anything I don't use.  I think it's rediculous to have 9 tackle bags full of stuff, when everything that you actually use can fit in a small box.

True, but what fun is there in that.

Shad raps for me, I used to use them all the time and I bet I have not thrown one in 2 or 3 years.

Got more than 700 cranks, more than 100 spinnerbaits, more than 30 swimbaits and perhaps 100 pounds of soft plastics.

From all those I fish with ( give or take a few ): 30 cranks, 5 spinnerbaits, 5 swimbaits and a few worms ( mostly straight tail worms most times ), few grubs and few creatures.

But better having and not needing than needing and not having !  ;)

100's of crankbaits, put them down a couple of years ago to dedicate myself to plastics and jigs. Had no reason yet to go back. Still carry them on the boat though. :;)

That 's my story and I 'm sticking to it !

Here 's another:

When faced to the dilemma of "which one ?" ---> get them both ! ;)

Dangerous words my friend. The daily whisper of the bait monkey!

If I'm not mistaken, it was Raul himself who coined the expression "Bait Monkey"  8-)

Carolina rigged plastics....at one time I would fish this every trip. Now it's Texas rigged exclusively. Haven't fish a Carolina in nearly a decade.

Zoom Flukes rigged weightless nosehooked on a 1/0 EWG hook. At one time I wouldn't go without using this, now I never do it although I still carry about 6 bags of them with me on the boat.

Got out of spinnerbaits and buzzbaits for a few years but the past couple of years I've started using them again. Again, took everyone I owned with me when I went time after time, even bought a separate box just for spinnerbaits and ran out of room in it......never fished a one of them.

I'm really bad to get into a lure, even a certain brand of lure, and get 40 kinds of it to use but then only use 3 of them total or eventually quit using them at all. After a while of not using them I'll give them away though, I don't let them build up cause I'm sort of OCD about having them sitting around "incase" I ever need them. If I did that I'd have to take every one I own out everytime I go fishing and it would be overwheming. I get rid of them and then I don't think about it anymore. I've probably given away 100 spinnerbaits at an average of $3 to $4 each. Only have about 30 left now (or should I say "for now").

The bait monkey loves me and my wife hates him. ;D
