Super User bilgerat Posted September 8, 2009 Super User Posted September 8, 2009 What baits and / or techniques have you gotten away from for whatever reason ? I barely used stick worms at all this year. Or any kind of worm for that matter. I worked on learning new baits this season with some success. I didn't plan on it, it just kind of happened which in my case is not a bad thing as I depended too heavily on them in the past. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 the simple johnson spoon.... had one for over 10 years, and maybe tried it twice. .....its quite the dust collector Quote
frogtog Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 There is no better bait than a Johnson spoon with a Fat Albert on the back for grass and pads. 8-) Quote

Super User Micro Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 Spinnerbaits. I don't think I've fished any at all this year. Quote
JLBomber Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Spoons lol. They've migrated to that "why do I still carry these" box. Also chatterbait. I'm not sure I've ever used it. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Everything that isn't a 10" worm and a flippin' stick, LOL!!! Cranks and spinnerbaits are my biggest dust collectors! Quote
Super User RoLo Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 There is no better bait than a Johnson spoon with a Fat Albert on the back for grass and pads. 8-) My sentiments precisely, to which I might add, especially bass over 6 pounds My "Dust Collectors" change every year, but among this year's neglected lures: > Plastic Lizards > Spinnerbaits > Senkos > Tube Lures (except for smallmouth bass) Roger Quote
skillet Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Used to have a spinner bait tied on always and can't even remember the last time I gave one a real try... skillet Quote
Danny1991 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I've probably gotten away from the jig the most recently. Quote
Koop Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Chatterbaits and Senkos. There was a point when I fished senkos all the time... now I just don't use them nearly as much as I should. Especially wacky senkos... Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 Heddon Zara Spook ~ it's been replaced by the Rapala Sub-walk. A-Jay Quote
JacobK Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 curly tailed worms, haven't thrown one at all this year. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 Buzzbaits. 3-4 casts with one this year, most it's been thrown in the last 15 years. Yup, major dust collector for me. Quote
Bryce C Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Senkos this year.....soft plastics in general. I've done a lot of jig fishing and really seem to catch them as well or better with a jig in the same situations that I would use soft plastics. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 this season: flukes. I used to fish them all the time, but I haven't fished them that much this year. overall: crankbaits. I have caught maybe 20 fish on crankbaits since I started fishing 4 years ago. I bought a whole bunch of them and I haven't caught fish with or even thrown most of them. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 To me its always been liped crank baits and soft plastics. Water is not deep enough to throw a crank bait. If it is I lose them in a cast to logs or rocks. Plastic because water is to dark. Spinners, jigs, spooks, lipless crank baits, and jerk baits work great. Quote
Fishbone Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 There is no better bait than a Johnson spoon with a Fat Albert on the back for grass and pads. 8-) That's one of the best Avatars I've seen in a while. LOL Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Swimbaits. I just don't have the patience or desire to work that hard for one big bite. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 I keep two of the most famous "Info-commercial" lures in a tacklebox just to remind myself to NEVER buy another lure that "outfishes live bait" or "may be banned from tournament fishing." : Quote

I own an Instant Fisherman deluxe model complete with Flying Lures. Doesn't get much lamer than that ;D Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 9, 2009 Super User Posted September 9, 2009 Has to be rat-l-traps. I've only used them one trip this year. Quote
Big Tom Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Tubes for me. I used them so much last year and the year before that. Only thrown them once this year for about 5 minutes at that. Quote
