Anybody Have Over Prescription Sunglasses?

I have polarized glasses but I also have prescription glasses and the was looking at some Cocoons on TW. Anybody try them? How well do they fit over your glasses? Any other fit-overs?

Don't know about any fit overs but if you can afford it prescription sunglasses are one of the best investments you will ever make. I bought mine 5 or 6 years ago and love them. If it's daytime and I'm out, I have them on. I finally talked my wife into getting a pair about a month ago and she will not leave the house without them either. I paid about $160.00 for mine and they are metal framed glass lens Bolle's. Paid around $140.00 for the wifes and they are plastic framed polycarbonite lens no names.

What color tint did you get gray, brown, amber?

I have a gray lens. Sorta. It's a gray lens that kinda has a slight bronze tint to it. If you look at the glasses it is a gray lens but when looking through the glasses there is a slight bronze tint along with the gray. Maybe not ideal for fishing but better than nothing and they work well while driving and just general use. It's a very good all around lens for me.

I have the FIt-Overs in amber and gray plus a Cocoon with gray lense, but they hurt my head/nose after a few hours so I recenty purchased some perscription models that have the seals like the Wiley-X sunglasses have.

I have Cocoons in amber and "Fit Overs" brand in grey. I like the Fit Overs better but the Cocoons are ok!

Not sure what you would consider. I took an old pair of frames to Sam's Club and had polarized, prescription grey lenses put in them for $75..........Al

I use the polarized fit-overs they sell at Wally World. They certainly aren't fashionable (I'm soooo over trying to look good ), but they work well. I actually prefer fit-overs to Rx sunglasses because they shield your eyes better, especially at the top and sides of the frame. Plus, they're only about $20 as opposed to $$$ for prescription glasses, so when (not if) I drop them in the lake, step on them, etc. I ain't out much.

I've got two pairs of cocoons (amber and mirror blue) and a couple of pairs of cheapos from GM and Wal-Mart. Get the ones that fit your frames, adjust the ear pieces and you are good to go.

I have polarized prescription sunglasses and I'm uncomfortable being outside in sunlight without them. When I go fishing, I do use a glasses strap. I've considered getting some of those Wiley X type prescription goggles, but I haven't found a dealer near me and I haven't decided that they are necessary - yet.

I use the dark grey lens, I think for every day use, if you're just going to have one color of prescription sun glasses, that's the one to get. Maybe not, I'm pretty sure my prescription will change in the next year or so and I'll see what is available then.

Is "Fit-Overs" the brand name and where can I find them. I've tried Cocoons at BPS and didn't care for the feel; but I'm not sure the few they had on display really fit my glasses. I've been fighting my trifocals for years.

Johnathan Paul fitovers. I wear them all day when fishing & don't feel any discomfort except when I get skunked. They have a sizing chart you can print out as a template to make sure you get the right size.

Lol, im imagining myself in a pair of those glasses you get after cataracts surgery. My grandpa rocked them all the time. Well I don't want to shell out for RX sunglasses so i think Im going to go with some cocoons.

I used to get my prescription glasses with magnetic sunglasses but I found that they let too much light in the sides. This summer I picked up some Solitaire fit over sunglasses at my eye doctor for $25. I will never go back. They offer so much more protection, and I even use them when I am chainsawing as safety glasses. The actually don't look too bad either... my wife wouldn't let me get them if they did look bad.

Any suggestions on best color for fishing?

i got a pair of prescription polarized ray-ban sunglasses, atleast the frames are ray-ban, i think the lenses are made by coppertone. they were quite expensive, but my aunt bought them for me in exchange for some computer work i did for her. they ran over $400. theyre great for fishing. and great for those morning rides going east to work when the sun is rising and shines right into your eyes and literally blinds you so bad that you cant see the car in front of you especially with a dirty windshield, well thats not a problem anymore either since i got these glasses about two years ago. before i got them i never wore sunglasses because i couldnt see well enough to satisfy me without the prescription and i dont like those clip on things or the things you put over your glasses

I have been using the amber lens. Besides being econimical for prescription eyeglass wearers they do provide extra safety protection from flying baits or used as safety glasses for other chores. I'm also sold on the concept because they give extra sunlight & wind protection.

I don't wear glasses and have better then 20/20 vision the last time I checked. I wear a pair of the fitovers in low light conditions. They make a pair of fitovers that has a very light tint polarized lens. I think it is called a daylight lens or something like that. In low light conditions I still get protection from a hook in the eye and can see down in the water since they reduce glare without making it look so dark. I have won tournaments with them being able to sight fish way before anyone else on the lake could see fish or been able to sight fish on cloudy days when nobody else can with normal polarized glasses. They don't do much for my image but they help me catch fish.
