I seen hornady had a factory load for their new .17 hornet not to be confused with the .17 ackly hornet. I seen the add months ago and couldn't find a gun chambered in it. Now savage has the 25 line chambered in it and I'm gonna have to pick one up when I get back from deployment. It's gonna be one of my fox/coyote guns on top of the .243 and AR.

Anyone have the new hornady load or used a ackly version from what I read the only difference is the shoulders ones 25* the other is 30*

I do not have the Hornady version but I have had a bunch of 17's over the years and the 17 Ak has to be one of my favorites of all the 17's owned.

Not much difference in the the two rounds and load data should be identical. The 17Ak rifles that I have owned have all been very accurate and easy to load for, you get a lot of punch for a very small powder charge. The early 17cal. rifles, due to poor quality bullets, barrels and stick powders and improper cleaning had some real problems. With the better barrels and bullet selection availabe now the 17's really shine. The 17 Hornet with a quality 20gr. bullet in a good rifle is easily capable of 3800 fps and very accurate, the 15 grain Berger bullet will get up to 4100fps in my rifle.

Yeah I'm a huge fan of the .17 iv contemplated going for a .17 rem or fireball iv even found .17rem ar15 uppers but I just see dollar signs flying out the barrel with that thing lol. We have alot of fox around here it's primarly what I see but we also have alot of coyotes I know people drop them with the HMR so the hornet should do the job as well as long as placements good and I don't hit that shoulder idk time will tell cuz ny minds made up and I'm getting the hornet an the wife ain't stoping me lol.
