Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 27, 2012 Super User Posted February 27, 2012 Nice. What reels did you bring for the trade-in? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted February 27, 2012 Most of my ultralite stuff. A couple underspins, and a spinning reel, all in great shape. I'll be bringing in the rods next week. Might try some Rage or maybe TFO stuff out. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 27, 2012 Super User Posted February 27, 2012 But, but, but..............those aren't Daiwas! Who are you and what did you do with the real John Francho ! Quote

I'm going down to the Gurnee store the last weekend for the vendor booths, but unfortunately the trade-ins will be done by then. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted February 27, 2012 I've been using lefty reels for pitching since the early 90s - anyone remember the old Daiwa Black Widows? "High speed 5:1 ratio, and they had a single brass bushing, LOL. This 201E7 is going on a Dobyns DX744. As far as only Daiwa goes, I actually own three CI4s, and old white Stradic, and a couple Calcuttas. One of my all time favorite reels is a 200B that I customized: Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 27, 2012 Super User Posted February 27, 2012 There's also a current $30 rebate on shimanos Quote
guitarkid Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 you're going to like those chonarchs, I eally like mine. -gk Quote
MSAJAA Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Looks good. I bought a Chronarch on Saturday. I went in with the intention of either a Corado or Revo SX and ended up with the Chronarch. Quote
barroncooper Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 best looking reel made!!! looks like what a storm trooper would use if he fished. I have 11 of them but mine are green. I must say though that the new chronarch feels much more refined than the curado e. am i right? I picked up a curado g5 and g6. tried them out today. they are nice reels but no where near the e series. but I did get 55.00 off per reel. I live in monroe la about 90 miles from this years classic location and I picked up the curados there and yes shimano did offer an additional 30 off per reel by mail in rebate. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted February 27, 2012 They don't feel any different. The spool has a textured anodized finish, though. Quote
Gangley Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 repainted and relabled Curado 200 E7's? j/k Nice reels! That Calcutta B is very nice, one of the better round reels made. I wouldnt mind having a few of those in the boat. Quote
Rich in Co Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I traded in 5 older Quantum's & Diawa's all in great working order, and bought a BPS PQ & Pflueger Spinning reel, going to trade about 5 rods but only buy 2 new rods, time to clean out the closet for a good cause Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 same thing happened to me yesterday! One of each plz! Quote
natalex1208 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 What is the trade in thing going on??? Quote
youngbassman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Hello, let me know what you think of those after you have fished them because I wouldnt mind knowing if it is worth going out and trying them. If you don't mind me asking how much do those run at bps. Quote

Aluma-Bass Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 179.99 with the reel trade-in deal, + shimano has $30 mail-in rebate going on certain reels also. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 28, 2012 Author Super User Posted February 28, 2012 199.99 - $30 for a trade in reel - $30 Shimano mail in rebate = $139.99. I think the trade in ends today or tomorrow - check your local store. You bring a reel in for them to donate to kids, and they knock a certain amount off the reel you buy. Quote

Thanks for the heads up on the trade in ending today. I was planning on going on Friday till I read this last night. I woke up this morning to make the trip and picked up the new carbonlite. I thought about picking up chronarch 50e but decided I would save the money and use it to upgrade my current curado 50e. Quote
