Does anyone here make their own vibrating jigs (chatterbaits)? Im thinking about trying it out. Any tips on head design, hook style, blade size? Thanks!

I have used an arky jig mold with the cross eye hook and used a split ring and blade. You can get blades from lurepartsonline or many other retailers. You can grind down a base hole pin and then you can pour heads without a weedguard hole if you want to.

You can get chatterbait heads from lurepartonline too...i think! If not there I saw them on Barlows website. They come with an open eye and you just put the blade through the eye and bend it closed.

I like the Poisen or Bullet style heads for the chatterbait type lures. The type of blades I use the vertical eye is what I have to use.

These are my double split ring versions, I also make one using a single split ring with a round head, both work really well and I use them a lot. The hook you use will depend on the head you decide to use, once you know that, send me a PM and I'll help you out.

I am thinking either a Gammy 474 or an Owner swim jig hook (if I can find it). I want this in a bullet-style jig head with a light 10 or 12 strand weedgaurd. Those come in a vertical eye. I'll PM you.

Nice chatters, by the way!

I make mine with a football head. I really like how they balance with the football head. I get the blades from Janns netcraft and mold them on a 4/0 Mustad hook.
