So when I first saw it at the weigh-ins I thought Ish was mad at Wirth for making him late by holding up the locks???

Then I heard on bassmaster that Ish stopped to pick up Wirth and give him a ride b/c his motor overheated.

But he mocked Wirth for making him late b/c of his Mercury, causing the penalty that would prevent him from making the cut....which it didn't matter he missed it regardless.

He seemed to use Wirth's misfortune to then sell his Yamaha sponsors....

what the heck actually happened and you guys got thoughts on promoting your sponsor by personally attacking another colleague/competitor???

I'm it has a lot to do with getting caught up in the moment. It came across to me like he was a little irritated but I don't know the man so I could've easily taken it the wrong way. Those guys all know each other and likely have a banter we'd never fully understand as "outsiders". It was indeed a shameless but clever opportunity to plug his sponsors but that's part of the game since it's the sponsors that make it all happen.

I didn't know if it was a joke or not

if it was a joke, i've heard better haha

Wirth defended merc after (supposedly user error, he overheated and wouldn't give it a break to cool)

I guess my main problem with it is making excuses for missing the cut is lame. Just like any other sport.

I didn't see that particular moment, but form watching Ish other ties, I would imagine he was just giving Wirth a hard time. He rarely seems to be serious. If he was truly taking a shot at him, that's definitely a weird way to plug your sponsors.

Easiest way to tell if he was actually mad, did he open up his comments with "Sexy Ish in the hooouuuse!" :P

Ya I figured he was kinda jk, just came across as a lame excuse the way he phrased it

I won't hold it against Ish

haha oh ya I saw that video when I was watching the tourney....that crappy merc just smoked that yamaha!

I noticed different boats tho, I wonder how much a difference that makes to

There's a ton of variables. I read that Randy Howell used to race boats before he started fishing, so he's a great driver and good at setup. I just thought it was funny that Ish was talking trash about Merc, but that one had no problem walking past the Yami. They're all good motors, just preference.
