Bama55 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I saw Bill Dance's show at lunch and he was fishing with one of these. Have you ever fished with these? If you have what's your opinion? I was thinking about picking up a few. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 I got a couple of the original ones. They are filed in my "Gotcha" file with Flying Lures and Helicopter Lures. Quote
Infidel. Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I got a couple of the original ones. They are filed in my "Gotcha" file with Flying Lures and Helicopter Lures. Don't knock the flying lure too much. I used to slay fish with the 2" black and silver one. As far as the Dancin' Eel goes, I think it went away the first time for a reason. Quote
jdw174 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 They looked good in the water.....and that's about it. They finally resorted to giving them away....one with every purchase of Fish Formula. Only ever heard of one or two people who actually even had a strike on them. Quote
Triton21 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I still have some of the original ones. They are in my 'Gotcha' file also. Kelley Quote
CJ Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I saw them at Wal-Mart the other day and smiled. When the Dance's Eel and Craw were first introduced somewhere around 82 or 83 I was 7 or 8 years old.I went to bed at night dreaming of getting one.Everytime I went in Uncle Jeff's I just stared at the display in awe, dreaming of the monster I could catch with it.I remember they were $4.99 and that was alot for a lure then. Well the day come when I findly got my Dance's Eel.Dad and I were off to a local pond that was just loaded.I used it for about 20 minutes while my dad went to catching fish,me and the eel were getting skunked.Being a sucker at the tackle store,I was still a smart enough lad to go back to my t-rigged worm. I wasn't suckered in like that until a few years later I saw this comercial about a flying lure! Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted March 3, 2007 Super User Posted March 3, 2007 I used to smoke them on the flying lure too. How is the flying lure a gimmick and the backwards IKA revolutionary? 1 Quote
TXBasshunter Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I actually caught a 4# on a white helicopter lure They twisted my line so much (even w/ swivels) I had to quit using them. The eel looks pretty good, maybe I'll wait 'til they go on Wal*Mart clearance We have all caught fish on things that look less like something natural. The fish have seen so many of the same thing, I think something different is always worth a shot. Quote
Papa_Tom Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 1) I, too, got the Dancin' Eel when they first came out. Fished it with full faith and confidence. Never caught the first fish. Pitched 'em finally. 2) Dancin' Craw Couldn't buy one w/o the other, besides it looked so realistic. Actually caught some of the biggest bass on this lure. Three pounds minimum. Set PB on two different lakes with this thing. Had to wait to set the hook, big bait. Had to work it very slow or it would roll over. Wish I still had one. I may be the only one, but I did catch 'em on the Craw. Quote
CrazedL.IFisherman Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I have never used these lures but it seems like for the most part they go in the look cool but catch only the fishermen category Quote
Kenneth Lee Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Everytime I use this lure, I catch at least 2 bass ( minimum ). This is the only lure I've been able to use everytime and land a couple. They arent always big but I have a whole album of pics with this eel hanging from their lip. Great lure 1 Quote
Chowderhead Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 ***Zombie Thread Alert*** Can’t pass up the opportunity to share. I bought the Dancin Eel back in the mid-80’s as a kid. Never did catch a fish on it. Found it in my tackle box recently. Quote
Festivus Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I have one, bought it on ebay from one of those sellers that sell a bunch of lures at once hoping to get people like me tricked into constantly bidding to get cheap combined shipping thinking I'm getting a deal, lol I always ended up spending too much. My brother fished it for about 30 minutes before he switched to a topwater and caught a huge white bass. Quote
