Went to the local spring classic and got what I thought was a decent deal

2x Shimano curado (5:5 and 6:4). = 159.00

Reel trade in -25.00

Mail in rebate -30.00

Total = 104.00

Shimano Sarahra =79.00

Reel trade in -15.00

Total = 64.00

I also got the last of the Hummingbird 798CI si. Combo. For 769.99

Not a bad day...

So Shimano is included this year?! Interesting. Last few years Shimano did not participate in the trade-in.

Wish you didn't reveal otherwise. Now I have to keep the Shimano Monkey off my back.

Yep, I just took advantage of the reel trade in too.

Took in 2 old spinning reels, picked up 2 Shimano Citicas with $25 instant savings on each reel and will get another $30.00 on each one with rebates. Picked up $130.00 reels for $75.00. Wooo hooo.

That's it! I'm not coming to this forum AGAIN! :exclaim: Bad for my sanity and marriage!

I jest...but I would have trouble justifying another Shimano reel. I'd have to buy a new rod to pair it with. I could apologize later, but I'd still be sleeping on the porch.

Oh its not so bad Darren, I'm out on my porch now. With my new Citicas, and all of my other rod and reels. :respect-059: Plus I picked up some ear plugs before I got home! Now I hope the coyotes don't get me tonight.

:hahaha-024: I feel better now. I only loaded up with several bags of soft plastics, used the rest of a BPS gift card, so minimal cash spent. But this reel trade-in thing. Gah! The temptation is strong, I must admit. Way too many reels unused that could be better spent on Shimanos.

I got lucky. My wife came with me to BPS (I did all I could to convince her not to), and she was actually OK with my reel purchase (although not a Shimano). I wouldnt be able to get away with another Shimano myself either, shes catching on to the names and brands (its a undercover plan I believe to keep tabs on this stuff). The new rod comes next week with the rod trade in. Next week she will not be going due to the vendors (and I told her I was going to be there for several hours checking out EVERYTHING! HAHAHA)

OK, y'all won. Or I should say the collective "BassResource Bait Monkeys" did!

Actually got approval from the CFO of the house to replace a kids reel with a "mature" reel via the trade in. She said it was better than if I were to buy the reel outright so I might as well do it.

But. I didn't get a Curado or even a baitcaster. I was allowed to replace the old reel with a new spinning reel for an ultralight rod. So I bought a Shimano Sahara 500. Not as sweet as my Stradics, but she'll do!! A few drops of oil and I need to work her out some. But I 'spect to catch me quite a few fish with the lil gal.

Sorry if I hijacked the OP's thread. Was unintentional. But he started it. :eyebrows:
