Concealed Carry Holsters

What type of holster are you guys and gals using for your concealed carry pistols? I am currently using a Remora Holster. No clips, no buckles......

sits inside the wasteband and I carry in the small of my back. Not sure what I am going to do during the summer.

Takes some practice draws to get the hang of it. I work with

a guy who has carried a full size 1911 45 ACP with these for

a LONG time. Just over a year now, I tote a Ruger LCR in one

and forget its there.

I, being left handed, had a difficult time finding a decent holster at a reasonable price. I finally ended up looking at Elite Survival.....great holsters and they are built well:

I am bigger so inside the pant didn't seem to be an option....I bought the thumb break paddle model and it does very well.

I got a double shoulder sling for my glocks. I also use my boot for my .22, and if I'm feeling really thuggy. I just crotch a glock like 2pac.

For the past year & 1/2, I've been using this inside-the-waistband holster by High Noon, for my Ruger SP-101. I wear it on my right rear hip and have had no problems with comfort or ease of access. This is what it looks like:

Prior to this, I carried in a Smart Carry type holster (ThunderWear). I didn't like it because it cost just about as much as a quality leather holster but wore badly. This is what I mean:

The hammer on this revolver abraded the material quite badly. Not easily seen by this photo, but it will give you some idea as to why this happens:

The Smart Carry was very comfortable though. You had to practice drawing with it a lot in order to become comfortable with getting at it when needed. Not as easy as they say it is! Hope this is of some help.

I have 2, 1 for a LCP in leather & 1 for my XD45s in horse hide.

I like that the cow is stained black but the horse is thinner and nicer IMHO

I use hunter holsters there in suede and the bulldog holsters are in nylon. I think the nylon breathes better than the suede holsters in the summertime withy body sweat. I have seen body sweat stain the stainless and nickel finishes too. A little simi chrome polish will clean it up like new again. My point is to remove it from the holster everynight and wipe it down and silicone it up again.

I use a Bianchi slide for my Kimber , but most of the time its a P3AT in a Desantis Nemesis in my front pocket

Sorry for the delayed response. Very well, to answer your question. Check their website. A sturdy pant belt really helps retain the gun.

My work day has me walking in some pretty "challenged" areas and drawing from a standing position is no issue at all, with some practice.

Drawing from a seated position on the other hand, especially in the car, is challenging. Buy 20 minutes of working out the angles and technique

and you're good to go. And yes, there are better options for guns with exposed hammers IMO.

I use a crossbreed for my Taurus PT140 pro. Its my first holster and i am very pleased with it so far. We cant conceal carry in Illinois, so it really only gets used when im on my property.

Super comfortable, reasonable prices (as far as custom holsters go, anyway), and incredible attention to detail. I highly recommend his work.

I'd love to have him build another one for my M&P9c since I carry it 95% of the time, but I'm a bit short of cash at the moment.

Has anyone tried the MTAC from Comp Tac? It looks like it would be fairly comfortable as far as IWB holsters go. I was going to order from Brigade but their turnaround time is 8 to 10 months.

I just purchased a Galco Triton Kydex TR-286 for my Glock 27. This is the first IWB holster I've owned. I was looking at this one, or the King Tuk, but that holster seemed huge, and for summer months, very uncomfortable. The TR-286 has a sweat guard, and gun draws with very little effort. I do have to say though, for a IWB holster, alot of the gun still sticks up, and is in plain view. As for out side the waistband, I still haven't found anything better then the Glock Sport Holster, (I think thats what it is called) was like $12.00, all black plastic, and very slim.

Just got my Comp-Tac in the mail today. It's really comfortable and conceals great.

Crossbreeds have always treated me well. I use one for my Glock and havent had any problems with it at all.

1 year away from being able to carry.... so frustrating. I will say I've done more research than one person probably should . If you want a really comfortable holster, the N82 tactical is awesome. Everything I've ever read about them has said it's a must have. My local gun store has them and I tried it on. Zero irritation and the neoprene padding really keeps the poking parts of the gun away from the body for incredibly comfortable carry.

Since I've retired from police work, I find I have quite a few concealed carry holsters.   I taught a few classes in what to carry in concealed carry a few years ago.

 

My thoughts are that the best option (in my opinion) was to get a custom holster maker and have the holster made for that specific gun.

 

I have holsters that are over 20 years old, some barely used, some not at all. The big names then were Milt Sparks and Kramer and Mitch Rosen(ARG), Don Hume, Bianchi, Pro Line.  I used to deal with these people and ordered custom holsters.

 

  True, they are expensive, but definitely worth the money. I'm just going through my inventory and will soon be putting some up for sale.  They mostly will fit a Colt Commander or Govt., a Glock 23, Sig 239, or Sig 220.Just been sitting around for awhile.

 

    As to "plastic holsters" I have a SideArmor inside the pants for a Glock 36 that is perfect! I was skeptical of that one at first but found it to be very reliable.

 

   My first post on the gun forum.....didn't even know it was here!!  Lots of posts on fishing one!
