Carrot Stix Please Opine

What does everyone think? They feel great in the hand. Are they sensitive?

I have 3, they're good rods, light and sensitve, decent balance too. About as sensitive as a Crucial.

Good rods and I like the color. They are very light, I have an original series paired with a carbonlite that I use for weightless senkos and weighted wacky rigs. I haven't gotten to fish much with mine so I can't really comment on the sensitivity. If you like them the I wouldn't hesitate buying one. I've heard stories of them breaking and e21 having bad customer service but I have never broke a rod.

Try the new carrot black that is new this year! I did see one at BPS Very lite,liter the the other carrot sticks.

I have some of the origional Carrot Stix and Just got 6 of the new Carrot Stix "Wild". They are extremely sensative and I would recommend them.

I'm not a big fan of the Carrot Stix because I don't think their handles are comfortable. I think there is such a thing as a rod handle/grip being too thin and skeletonized.

I as well don't like the handles on my E21, I haven't done it but someone on here said they was able to fix the skinny handle. Mine cramps my hand up so I just place my middle finger above the trigger. I have 7'6 H-F that I use for frogging.

That's not good.

I have one Carrot; it's a 6'2" MH Gold casting. The guides are a joke, but the rod has served me well. I use it for topwater the vast majority of the time: walking Sammy's and Giant Dog-X's.

They are pretty cheap as far as the construction is concerned. My first impression of them was they looked like they belonged on a toy fishing rod.

I haven't had any problem with them as of yet... though I haven't put them through much, and have only run 10-12lb Yo-Soft through them.

I figured the gold rods had the same guides as the others but the ones on gold are actually titanium guides, which are the lightest available, and probably strongest, and least likely to break. I know they look cheap, but they definitely arent.

The guides are stainless. They have a TiCH coating. This is why there has been a lot of people experiencing grooving and wear.

Carrot Stix hand crampers... I have a solution that works wonders. Go to a local bike shop and buy a role of cork handlebar tape (or see if they have random scraps, you only need ~2'). The stuff will add a VERY marginal amount of weight to your rod and actually I found it improved the balance of the rod.

1. Cut a piece 1-1.5" long and another the same length of the rod grip.

2. This depends on what hand you hold the rod with, I hold it with my right. Let's say the centerline of the reel seat (Butt to Tip) is 12 o'clock, put the left edge of the tape (if you are a righty do the right side) on that centerline about 1/4-1/2" down from the plastic part of the reel seat, on the grip.

3. Lay the grip length strip over the smaller one. You can use a wrap of electrical tap to secure it at the end to prevent any slipping.

4. WRAP! It is VERY important that if you are holding rod in your right hand that you start at the butt end of the grip and go over the top and wrap CLOCKWISE up the grip until the end. If you are holding it in your left hand then go counter clockwise. This is important because as the grip rotates in your hand it will not cause the tape to stretch/unwrap with use, it actually tightens it.

5. Trim the top edge with a razor and add a wrap or 2 of Electrical tape.

The little hump you created with the small pieces supports the muscles and nerves in the palm of your hand that are left unsupported with the stock grip and a reel mounted. Give it a shot!

It leaves NO Residue if you decide to take it off and sell the rod.

I have 2 Carrot Stix rods. I have a 7 ft medium spinning rod that I throw senkos on and I have a Wild 7'6 heavy casting rod that I use for flipping and pitching and jigs. They are both sensitive rods, have good balance, have great back bone, and are very light. I really like them. I hope to pick up a Wild Black sometime here soon.

I own two E21 Carrot Stix Wild Cast Rod 7' Med Hvy and Med. I love them Both. I have caught numerous Peacocks and LM. With Braid and Fluro. Not a single problem. Many people complain about Carrot sticks being weak and easily broken. But out of all my rods, I have only ever had one rod fail me. Shimano Cumara.
