james 14 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Their website lists average speeds for available motors on each of their boats...as does Tracker. Can anyone testify to the accuracy of these numbers? It says the Z7 with a 150 will go around 60. My instinct tells me these are only accurate with one skinny dude driving, no tackle and a near empty tank. Quote
SDoolittle Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I don't know about the Z-7, but the numbers are right on for my Z-6. The estimated speed is listed as 50-52 MPH. If I'm alone in the boat with smooth water and an empty livewell, I can get it up to about 54 MPH (GPS). With a partner in the boat and a full livewell, it tops out at about 50 MPH. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted February 24, 2012 Super User Posted February 24, 2012 I can only speak for the 2011 Z-8. A friend of mine has one with a 250 Pro XS. Nitro says 74-77. With the two of us and all our gear it will do at least 75. It may do better, but I am too interested in making sure I stay in the boat at that speed to pay close attention. He says it will do 80+ with just him in the boat, and I don't doubt it. EDIT: Neither of us are skinny dudes. Full figured would be more accurate. Quote

I have a 150 EFI Merc with an inch less pitch than the Optimax has on the Z7, and I've seen 58.7 on the GPS. Speedometer reads about 65. Thats with just me, and a nearly full fuel tank with all of my gear aboard. Quote

I have a tracker avalanche, which according to the guy that does the preformance testing, the avalanche was the Z7 before there was a Z7 I got a 150 optimax .........55.4 GPS speed, with lots of gas in the tank. I state the above, knowing I do not have a very good setup, so I think I could get more out of it. Quote
