I have that exact reel on my cranking sticks, GREAT reel.

The Tourn SS is most likely the biggest value out there right now.

Just throwing this out there, you can get the quatum KVD with 5.4 gear ratio off ebay brand new in the box for $210 shipped, from multiple stores. As an owner of the lews and the KVD, it pay the little extra for the KVD.

the lew's tournament Pro , is $170.....so not apples to apples, though I bet the Lews TP is still better, for many people IMO.

now if you compare the KVD and the Team Lews reel ($215) I am willing to bet the KVD reel loses.

not calling you out at all, just want to know which lews you are comparing. I just got some tournamnet pros and have no idea why anyone would need a better reel than those......

Last year after almost all of my gear was stolen I bought a Lew's. They are now the only casting reels I have any more. I have not used every single reel there is out there but I think it's kind of hard to find a better reel then what Lew's offers for the same price range.

Its all good dude, the OP said he was looking for a cranking reel and wanted opinions on the lews. I own the lews, and also the KVD, and gave my opinion, and also stated that the KVD was indeed more $. However i disagree strongly witth statements like "KVD reel loses", or "this reel is better", if that were the case, we'd all own the same exact set-ups. In my opinion, you won't be disappointed with either, but for me i'll take the quantum.

I'm a Shimano posse member (Curado E family) and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about Lew's reels. The guy that cleans my reels always praises Lew's reels! If something happens to my little green family, I'm switching to Lew's for sure. For the money and what people say about them, and my experience handling them in stores I doubt you can beat them for the $$.

Having said that, I think you will be pleased with a Lew's, enjoy it and post back what you think.

Here's to good knots, and dumb fish!

If the new Lew's reels are anything like the old ones were they are excellent. Those old reels were ahead of their time.

I think the 50e is better at throwing light baits but other than that the Lew's is the shiznit!

I have a set of Bocas on the way for my TP!

Anyone have a team lew's? How do they compare to the TP?
