fowlskies Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Those blue gill patterns are amazing. Do you actually fish with these or do you frame them and hang them on your living room wall? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 22, 2012 Super User Posted February 22, 2012 The bluegill looks alive !!!!!!!! Dude, you have a real talent, I've seen phto finished lures were they put actual pictures of the fish onto the bait and they didn't look as real as your bluegill. You shad patterns are amazing as well as the rest but I have a soft spot for natural finishes and you make Lucky Craft lures look like they were painted by a 5 year old with crayons, simply amazing!!!! I the shad and bluegill patterns are both photo finished if i'm not mistaking? Big Bass Man has just perfected it and can shoot some awesome jobs to go with a beautiful photo finish on top of that. Very amazing skill level!!! Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 22, 2012 Super User Posted February 22, 2012 All look great Big Bass Man. When are you gonna post something I don't like? LOL...JK of course. The Bluegill is the BOMB! Quote
Big Bass Man Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 Thanks for the kind words guys!! The shads and the gill are photofinished. Lots of trial, error and Practice Practice and more Practice to get where I am at with them Today!!! I have to give all the credit to my good friend Husky on TU for willingly sharing the tutorial with others. He is a great guy with tons of talent on lure building/painting. Jigfishin, You should have saw some of my early paintings!! Lol Quote
Fishwhittler Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Nice work! Those photo-finished shad baits look killer. Quote
bigbassctchr101 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 BigBassMan- what process do you lay your paint and photo finish with? Do you spray top and bottom then apply finish or apply paint after the finish. Was also wondering, if you were to take your shad baits and throw a chartruese splatter down the back, would you apply that directly to the foiled picture, or would you put a coat of clear on first, then apply another clear over paint? I've just started painting, but I've got so many ideas- just want to be able to get my ideas across in the right way! Quote
crankbait designer Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 really great stuff paint slinger! def. could learn some from u on the photo finish side of things! Quote
Traveler2586 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 These look too good to through into the water, I think I'd feel sick if I lost one. Outstanding work. Can you explain what a photo finish is? I've never made cranks before. Cheers, E Quote
Big Bass Man Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Hey guys, Here is a link to Husky's Tutorial. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/12000-photo-finishing-foil-and-faux-finishes/ Getting your blending to match the baitfish is the most important thing. Just practice until you get what you like. Quote
basshunter81 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Does the photo finish affect the action of the bait? Quote
Big Bass Man Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Does the photo finish affect the action of the bait? It doesn't affect namebrands or custom baits at all. Not sure on knockoffs, as I am not a fan of them. Quote
