Alex Phillips Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I am looking for a good line to put on my baitcaster. I have only used braid. I've never used mono or flourcarbon on a baitcaster but it seems to be when I'm flipping and pitching the line always seems to stick to the spool and it doesn't slide off the reel nicley. What is a good mono line that has barely any memory or any flourocarbon that is good. Quote
Hellbenderman Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I have no idea when this was posted, but I use Spider Wire XXX Super Mono, which you can usually find at Walmart. I have used it for years and it is good stuff. For flouro I use Pline 100% Flouro. Smoochies Quote
bandsr4me20 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I like p-line cxx in 12 and 15 ib test. It seems to work for pretty much everything. It is not the best when it comes to memory but it certainly makes up for it when it comes to abrasian resistance and strength. In flouro, I have used seagaur invisx and trilene 100 percent in 12 and 20 ib test and did not have any problems with either of them. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted February 20, 2012 Super User Posted February 20, 2012 for flipping and pitching i'll recommend Seaguar AbrazX in 20# Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted February 20, 2012 Super User Posted February 20, 2012 If you feel like your line is "sticky" and doesn't flow off the reel, then you're probably better off just getting some KVD Line & Lure conditioner instead of changing out your line. If you really want to switch to fluoro, Trilene is pretty solid, affordable, and readily available. Quote
NCLifetimer Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 pick up some 15,17 or 20 pound trilene 100%(NOT vanish, their is a difference). Seaguar also has good reviews on their flouro. Trilene is probably the one you'll find in stores thou. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 21, 2012 Super User Posted February 21, 2012 Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Vanish has such a terrible reputation, Berkley just named the next generation 100% Trilene. "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time." Don't add more volume to your trash can. Seguar AbrazX is a great fluorocarbon line at a reasonable price. However, I think you will find Yo-Zuri Hybrid to be your best option. Quote
The Guy Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 If it is the braid that isn't flowing off of the spool smoothly you may be using too small of a diameter. This can cause the braid to dig into itself on the spool on a hookset or snag. Quote
shackman Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I use 17# Vicious furocarbon (tough stuff!!!) for flipping and Seaguar Red Label for more manageable applications, never had any issues with either.Vicious can be found @ Walmart now. Quote
