I'm stuck between buying either a St. Croix Mojo Bass or a Duckett Micro Magic rod. I need a good rod for fishing with soft plastics. I am looking to buy a good, sensitive, low price rod. It would be in a casting version. Any suggestions??

I have a ST Croix Mojo Bass MBC70MF that I use for Texas rigged soft plastics. I love it.

I bought a Duckett before last spring, and after catching just one fish I knew that every rod I buy will be Duckett. I love them.

Just so happens, I have both rods. I would take the Ducketts hands down. Actually I wish I had never bought the Mojos. Don't get me wrong, they are an excellent rod. They are just a whole lot heavier than the Ducketts. That lightness has spoiled me. I don't like to criticize one product over another, since they are all great, so it just comes to personal choice. I work at BPS, so I am handling these rods all day long, and to me , it seems there is none lighter in the store. I suggest, take your reel with you, and mount it on both rods, then you will see and you can make a more informed choice. I will also say, we do sell more Mojos than Ducketts, but that could be because of the $50.00 price difference. Anyway, good luck with your choice. GOOD FISHING!!!

2xs. The Mojo feels like a tank in ur hands compared to the Duckett. Check the specs--the have to be several ounces lighter. If you put ur reel on a Duckett I guarantee you'll buy it.

I've fished both and its not even a comparison, duckett hands down. In this case it wouldn't matter what model you were trying to compare, the duckett is what you want!

I agree on the Duckett. I own both mojos and ducketts. Ducketts are in a completely different league than the Mojo. If I had to go with a St.Croix it would be an Avid over the Mojo anyday. The Duckett has a longer warranty (20 years vs 5 years) and is alot lighter and more sensative. You may want to check out an Avid or a Rage as they are in that price range with the Duckett. The Avid may not have a split grip or micros but it is a proven performer that comes with a lifetime warranty and is Made in USA!

I had a few Mojo bass rods and have fished my buddies Duckett Micro a few times. the Ducketts are nicer rods but they also cost more. The 6'6" model has a short handle which I like, but some people don't. The duckett also felt lighter and better balanced. If you want the better between the 2 buy the Duckett. If you want to save some money, buy the Mojo, either way you will be happy, both rods catch fish, lol.

Unless you're finding the Duckett at a discount that's not a very level comparison. The Duckett is a much nicer rod but it also cost quite a bit more. I have several mojos and like them but if I'd had the extra money to spend I would have bought an Avid instead because it's a nicer rod. So if you've got the cash to drop then buy the Duckett, if not the mojo will work just fine.

I have a Mojo Bass and it is okay. Like others have said it is tip heavy, and I am sure there are better rods in its price range. I would get the Duckett Micro.
