Spinnerbait Trailers

I have not really used them in the past but as the spawn approaches and i am getting all my tackle in order I plan on throwing everything this year. What are yalls favorites?

im cheap so i just save my plastics and pick something of similar color with action. zoom g tail worms give really thump on the bait. they also cause bad line twist whem fished t-rigged so all of mine will be trailers

I use a Lake Fork Hyper Worm most of the time. The only two others that I use are a Kalin's Grub and a Zoom Fat Albert.

i do well with zoom tabtails and money minnows. a lot of times i'll take the SB skirt off entirely and just fish it with the plastic. AWESOME application for dirty, pressured water. i like a-jay's suggestion as well

I am with J on this one. For some reason it comes down to a confidence thing with me. Adding anything to a spinnerbait creates too large of a profile to where I am not comfortable with the presentation.

I like to just throw on a trailer hook and concentrate on other aspects of the bait such as blades, size, and color.

I dont even bother with a trailer, just a trailer hook. I used to put a grub on the back, then i started using a trailer hook and no plastic trailer and my hookup ratio went up significantly. I would say close to 50% of my bass are hooked on only the trailer hook.

Chances are, if they are hooked in the chin by the trailer, it's because they are crashing the blades.

Again in the past, well a few years back here our Glen told me how to set up and use spinnerbaits. From shore i found it hard to catch fish with them until i set them up properly.

I took the 1/8oz Hank Parker Classic spinnerbait white with a single gold blade and added a mister twister split double tail 4'' white trailer. I trimmed the main body till it went on the hook perfectly. I even added a trailer hook too. On my chartruece 1/8oz spinnerbaits i use the 4'' MT split double tails in chartruece of course. The split double tail grub used as a trailer teases the fish even more. Without it i don't catch fish. I also shoot my spinnerbaits with a shot of yum scent too.

The presentation for that moment is the key for success;

I try slow reeling it just below the surface were i can see it. After fan casting it many times I slow up even slower so the spinnerbait will run below the sight line were we can't see it but the fish can. I find that sometimes the fish won't strike above that sight line were we can see them. I also throw them in every direction possible too even parallel with the shore line when i can.

I take my torn up Caffeine Shads and glue them together. The tail has a subtle wiggle that can get me a few extra bites. If they offer the new Caffeine Dream Shots in white I will just use those.

Give the Netbait Dirt Dog a try as a spinnerbait trailer. It works great! The paddle ends give off some cool action.

Another one that prefers not using a plastic trailer the majority of the time. Like J and a others mentioned, I use a trailer hook (1/0 as well) about 99% of the time).

The rare occasions I do use a plastic trailer is in heavy stained to muddy water. I do this to add a little more bulk to the bait as well as a little more vibration. That said, I'm using a bulky 4-5" single tail grub.
