I just picked up a few bags of Rage Tail Shad and Toads for $3 each. I have never used them before and figured at that price, I couldn't pass them up.

SO once I got home, I was looking at each bait and noticed on the tails of them, there is a small please of rubber that attaches them to the body.

Should you detach them so they flop freely or do you leave them attached so its sturdier?

What to do?

Detach, they are connected in the manufacturing process.

This combined with the packaging delivers the baits in perfect

condition, exactly as they were designed.

I usually leave them in the bag and use a 10/0 extra wide gap hook texas rigged in the bag :D

But seriously, one of the reasons to have soft plastic baits is to have a lot of movement in them, you'd be defeating the purpose if you didn't let it have as much action.

have you ever tried fishing them connected?

Not on shads or toads, but I have on almost every size of craw! Doesn't work to well, and I usually kick myself in the butt, because when I "un-attach" them I start to get bit! :cut:

Yeah did that with the Shad once...I was like why isn't this thing working right?!? Then after the third cast i figured it out. Felt like an idiot.

It was 6 in the morning, didn't get much sleep and I was anxious to wet a line.I could see the splashing all around me that morning.
