Is the Memphis Foot Golf group still there? I have not been there since the fall. I usually park in the parking lot and walk around to all the ponds. The first pond supposedly has the biggest ones. They love top water and a soft plastic lizard for sure! Quote
BrushHog1906 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Hey Guys! I hope everyone has gotten out of their winter funk and catching our green friends! My most recent trip was to Halle Park last Saturday. Caught 2 one pounders on the Summer Craw. Wishing to catch one of the monsters out deep. Any suggestions? (Would love to hop in a kayak) Haven't any luck at Grove nor Neshoba. A little luck throwing out at my apt but nothing but dinks. Any old/new places heating up? Ex: Daycare Pond or Lowe's Pond? Also, Johnson Road Park & Johnson Fountains - Are these 2 different places??? The pictures from WDE does not look like Johnson Road Park. @WDE Lately, I have had luck throwing the Rage Tail - Summer Craw color texas-rigged. Since last year, I caught my PB bass on a chatterbait and I always start off with it. Hoping to top my PB soon! Quote
BrushHog1906 Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Found my way to WC Johnson Park! Prettiest park I've here in Memphis. And not bad for my first time out. Saw something swarm the bank about 2-3 times. Through everything in the book until I decided to throw a worm. Nice 2.5 lb chunk. Picture too big to upload Quote

Was there for about 90min (only hit the big first pond) saw one bass in the down trees in the corner but that was about it. Quote

I’ve caught fish there on just about everything, but I get skunked more often than not. I’m most confident with cranks and plastics at Johnson. Thanks WDE! Grove continues to skunked me... plenty of snakes! There everywhere! Have you ever been to that little pond on the back side through the cut path? I headed that way, but came toe to baby Cooper head, so I turned back, didn't feel like losing a toe! I will say, when I did come back, I saw 3 very large fish, under the over hang, about Midway through that cut path. I can't believe they were bass, the top fin was curved and pointy. I couldn't tell, but they were very large fish! Im not giving up on the Grove. My boss gave me a machete knife, after listening to my stories, so I hope to clear out some of new holes to hit. Never give up!! Keep on fishing!! Quote

By the bridge, top pond, I had a decent bass coming in, but it was able to head shake, off the hook!! But Johnson is my favorite spot as of now! Quote
Ole DjB Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I'm headed out tomorrow morning, a HOT day fishing is better than sitting in AC house, wishing I was throwing braid!!! I wanted to try the, "Day Care" spot. Just have no idea were it is. Also, I've read about the lake behind Lowe's on G-Town Road, is that accessible? And if anyone knows of other spots, besides, Grove, Johnson, Neshoba or Collierville City Hall, PLEASE let me know. Even the surrounding counties of Memphis, I'll try it and report back!! Thanks to everyone who takes time to keep the fishing good in Memphis!! Happy fishing!! I have a 14ft. Flat bottom John Boat, with live well. I am trying to get it registered here in TN. She's from Michigan, I do not have the,"Bill of sale", all I have is my past MI registration. It was a gift for my 40th. So I never saw any of the paper work. Does anyone know if that will be enough to get it registered? And what is the ,"sales tax", I keep reading about? If anyone can help guide me, so I can get her back in the water, I would greatly appreciate any advice. And I'll even take you or yous out for a day on the water!! Thank you! Quote

Herb Parsons Lake just outside Collierville. Plenty of bank to walk, can launch boats with trolling motors. Can also rent boats/motors. $6 to fish, or get a season pass. Big bass in that lake including cats and crappie. Day Care is on Shea Rd at the corner of Houston Levee. I’ve never gotten a bite there. I went to Johnson Rd Park yesterday afternoon and caught a little 1lb on the lower pond. Hardest fighting pounder I’ve ever caught. Crushed the lure and made a spectacle of himself jumping out of the water a few times as I brought him in. First time fishing there, not a bad little spot. Bought a Whopper Plopper 90 this morning and took it to throw around behind city hall. Fished it for about an hour with no strikes and decided to tie on a crank and got another 1lb on the first cast. WDE Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Woke up at 5am and couldn’t fall back asleep. So I decided to hit several ponds between 6 and 10. Landed 6, all on the Whopper Plopper I bought yesterday. No real size to speak of, but that topwater bite is fun no matter what. I did go hit daycare and caught my 2 biggest there(1.5 range), and a 2-3lb spit my lure(of course). Quote
JakebeCastin Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Since I'm finally done with school, I got sometime to head out to Collierville City hall last week and did some damage. I was using a spinnerbait at first and switched up to a Bull Frog color Speed craw. I caught like 3-4 good size and this momma popped on it. I caught most of these on the right side of the parking lot pass the water drain of the fence, I normally fish across the lake on the deeper end but changed it up a bit and glad I did. Collierville holds some big bass, if only a kayak was allowed. If anyone is free lets fish. 4 Quote
WDE Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 I have access to a couple private neighborhood ponds up in Piperton, but I rarely go up there as to not impose on the resident(even though they tell me to come whenever). Caught 5 today on t rigged black/blue and junebug Yum Dinger. Largest went 2.5(upper right). Obviously you can see they hang out around the bushes. 2 on the other pond from Wednesday. Larger one was 2.6. Both on the Yum Dinger. I’ve been out every day this week, and it’s felt pretty d**n good. Quote

PM me and we can see if we can coordinate something. Quote

Now I'm looking forward to going to it and seeing what it's all about! Johnson Park Lower Lake is definitely a place to go if you haven't caught anything in awhile.. there's definitely some nice fish in that Lake! I decided to do a little night fishing tonight. Went to in the Shobha / Chick-fil-A pond, a rigged up a ChatterBait with a brush hog tail after about an hour of slowly working the shoreline, I pulled in a nice 1 pounder, just over, according to the scale. I got to say, I really liked the night fish!! Using my other sences to really hone in on my lure, was definitely fun! Plus, you can't beat the cool night air!! Thanks again WDE!! Hope to see you out there! 1 Quote

That pond has a bunch of small fish but top water in the dark gets the blood pumping. 3 Quote
Ole DjB Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Heck yea! I was checking out some night fishing videos, before heading out and alot of anglers were talking about the top water poppers. I'm gonna have to get some. What type of popper did you use? I'm gonna have to check out the church pond, I live off 240 at Walnut Grove, so that's a quick drive for me. 1 Quote

The river 2 sea popper the bubble walker, the pop max and I have a cheap bps that kills it. Minus the mb all can be had for 20. The mb is 20. Quote
Brandon Dippel Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 What’s the deal around here? I’ve been to every pond known to man, fished every bait I’ve got and haven’t got a bite in 3 weeks.., Quote

It has worked extremely well for me the last 7 days and I get out almost every night for at least an hour. The zoom 6" lizard in 420 working well on a Carolina rig. Quote

I have thought about going at 1 am when I get off but I’m a chicken and don’t want to get in trouble. Quote
