Haha. They’re still being a bit finicky. Not biting as hard as they did in the Fall. I’m not sure if the rains we’ve been getting have pushed a lot back up into the creek or what. Hoping it dries out and they come out of there.

With real heavy rains it’ll flood the area by the bridge on the fountains pond. So I’m wondering if it’s ever deep enough for them to migrate back and forth.

I’ve been seeing a large carp(1.5-2ft long at least)moving around, and even leaping out of the water, that I’ve never seen back there before. I beginning to wonder if it’s the same large carp that I’ve seen numerous times in the fountains pond.

That’s a nice fish, did you get a weight? I’ve never had much luck there, but you may have inspired me. What were you throwing? I think it’s a pretty tough pond for everyone due to its depth. To paraphrase someone’s info given to me here, it used to be a quarry and the shad circle the middle which is where the bass hang out most of the time.

unfortnately i hadnt a scale with me, but it has 22 inches and was quite fat, i´ve check on internet (due my lack of experience with bass) and seems that this was a 6 pounder. believe or not it was bigger than appears in the picture, i know, usualy is the other way around.
I was throwing a big lipless crank. yes i've heard that too, those big guys don´t come to shore very often. Btw there´s another pic of the guy. would be great hear your opnion about the weight.

Was going to say low to mid 5s based on the picture, and based on bass I’ve caught that appeared that size. Get yourself a scale!

Noted on the lipless. Every time I toss one in that pond I catch more algae than anything, which is another reason why I don’t fish there often—because lipless and squarebill are my typical go-to lures.

Hey Bluff, I actually was setting up to try to land some carp last summer.

There's a trail at johnson park cVille that starts at the first three ponds on the left, runs about two miles and hits the wolfriver and makes a right headed towards the end of the boardwalk. After that you'll eventually see a trail to your left that drops down to a large sandbar. There is a herd of carp back there. I went back there three times last year targeting bass. I strap my poles to backpacks and take bikes back in that area. It might be less distance going down the boardwalk and taking a left at the end of it but you cant bike that way.

That's awesome. Thanks a ton man.

I wasnt able to get out east this weekend but hopefully soon. I fished a small pond near downtown but didn't have much luck. Full moon and cooler temps may have thrown the bite a little. At least that's the excuse I'll use!I

Just an FYI—I went to Neshoba last Wednesday, and due to the heavy rains we had the previous week, the Wolf River flooded into the surrounding ponds and they’re way up full of muddy water.

When I was there I only managed a small one in as much time as well. Hoping that the water calms after the flooding.

Never heard of Meeman Shelby, please report back if you go.

Went up to Piperton today where I have access to a private neighborhood pond. Caught 3 in about 1.5 hours all on T rigged junebug Yum Dinger. Estimating 2.5lbs, the others were 1.5 or less.

Caught this one at Johnson the other day, 3.7:

Lipless is starting to heat up too. If I can’t get a bite after 20-30 min on that, I move back to the ol’ faithful.

The 3.7 above was on a lipless ghost shad from H20 Xpress(aka the Academy Sports brand). About $3 and reliable. I caught 4 that day all on the same lure.

Has anyone fished Glen Springs?

I've only been up there once, rented a jon boat for the day but spent about 80% of my time fighting getting blown around by the wind. Not a productive day fishing...

Maybe someone else had a better experience? It's definitely a more boat friendly lake as far as i can tell.

I hit up Neshoba yesterday and caught a couple dinks in about an hour. One on a worm and the other on a crank.

I headed over to Johnson and couldn’t buy a bite in the brush pond or the fountains. Really odd not to even get a sniff in the brush pond.

Are you seeing any beds?  Might be shutting down for the spawn here in two days but I been fishing mostly bigger waters and have not seen any yet. Big waters like Kentucky lake and beech lake are mid fifties.

I thought about that too, and you could be correct. Haven’t seen any beds because the water is so murky.

Saw my first snake of the year, so it looks like I’ll be keeping out of the woods until Fall. I believe it was just a non venomous brown water snake, but I didn’t want to get any closer. He was curled up on some reeds at the Johnson brush pond.

Caught 1 at Neshoba in about 5 casts. Didn’t get a sniff for the rest of the day.

Take that pb however you can... my buddy were joking about using a cast net during the spawn snap a pic and let them go.  He laughed I laughed the game warden gave us a cross look and we left for home.  We had fun with it the rest of the trip home. :)

Got out today in my kayak for about 2hrs at the Shelby farms lake by the stables. Only caught a dink, but had a few swipe at a spinner bait. They seemed to be up really shallow crashing on the bank.

Also— keep your eyes open: the snake count for today was 9.

Snakes are definitely out at Johnson. I was walking the paved walkway next to the walking bridge on the back side of the fountains pond, scanning the area to my right in between the concrete and the bridge watching for snakes. Caught some movement on the pond side, and a 2 foot long snake(unsure if cottonmouth or harmless water snake) went swimming by.

It swam a few feet then ducked and disappeared under water. I continued looking out for it while casting from the other bank, and about 5 minutes later it popped its head out of the water about a foot off the bank. It was just checking me out, but needless to say, keep your head on a swivel.

I went to the Grove Park today, threw everything from plastic to top water rat. No bites, but only 2nd time there. I'm hitting up Johnson Park in the morning. Any suggestions or tips would be great! I'm still looking to pull in my first TN Bass!

I'll update as the day goes on!!

Thank you to everyone contributing to the Memphis Pond Hoppers thread!!

Grove Park is tough. Big fish in there, but I can never find them. I’ve caught fish there on just about everything, but I get skunked more often than not.

I’m most confident with cranks and plastics at Johnson.

Hey guys, new to this page. I was looking for places to fish in Cordova area. I went and fished Herb Parsons and IH the last few days. Didn’t catch anything. Had one real good bite at IH tonight but missed the hook set.

Thanks to reading through some of these messages... I am going to try Cordova country club tmw. So let’s hope it turns out good.
