Nah, remember we had this discussion in the other thread you started. I haven't found anybody local that will work on a rod and/or reel & would do a professional type job. I'd prefer somebody that really knows what they're doing work on em.

I've repaired a few rods in the past  of my own.  It's pretty easy just take your time lining up your guides and doing the wrap.  Just gotta make sure you use the right type of thread with the right diameter.  And as far as sealing it slow curing 2pt epoxy works good just put it on with a small soft brush while slowly rotating the rod.  also a Rod jig for doing your thread rotating on is actually pretty easy to build you can even build one out of cardboard.  just be careful when taking off the old guide. you have to use a lighter to brittle the thread sealer so you can cut the threads off of the blank.  Too much heat with the lighter and you can weaken your blank which will cause failure later.

I have most of the stuff to build rods and I do a lot of my own repairs.  This is a dobyns champion rod that was broken during a military move so I have to have it repaired professionally and provide a receipt for the repair.

So i went into the place, kind of empty in there.  The staff was nice and was more than willing to talk shop.  My daughter had to use the rest room and they accommodated.  I talked about guide repair and they did not have the guides from my rod, which is not really out of the box so i said i could track down the right one.  I asked to see some of the work they did and found it to be very unsatisfactory.  The repair guy claimed that most people just bring in junker rods and dont care about the quality of the repair.  If you were in a pinch and had to have a working rod i still dont think i would let them do it.  If i need something i would go back as they were helpful and nice and i bought a bag of tungsten weights just because i went in.  I am currently working on my work bench and if i cannot find anything in the area i will start practicing.  Who knows others in the area might need a good repair guy.

Yeah, bout my take on the place as well. They're nice guys, but it ain't a top notch bait & tackle store. I stop in from time to time when I'm over that way for work. I've picked up a few used & new cranks & couple packs of hand poured soft plastics.

I torqued my lower back moving some furniture a couple weeks ago, so I haven't been out nearly as much lately. This swing in weather hasn't helped much either.

None of the local spots I go to regularly allow boats. However, you could go up to Herb Parsons and put in. I believe it's currently their off-season, but I think there's money dropbox to use on your honor. I believe it's $5 or $6 a day. And they offer season passes as well.

Been there twice and did horrable.  I do better at the golf course pond at orville

I went once shortly after getting back into fishing last September(after about a 15 year hiatus). Only fished the bank(s) and I didn't do so hot either. I'll go back in the Spring. I personally believe my fishing game has improved tremendously since September--as far as bank fishing is concerned.

Might as well piggyback(pun?) this post, I did grab this lil guy earlier this week. I was impressed with his color, and apparent health.

No pics worth sharing, but the bass were biting at Johnson front side. Had a couple trout fishermen out there at first and continued to fountains for a few and had no luck, so I went back up front and they were gone. Landed a couple in the first 15 minutes, less than a pound each. I'm just glad they're biting again.

Additionally, I hooked up on something big(I think). I was reeling in my crank and it just stopped, no budge. Figured I was hung up on something, so I started cranking down and the lure gave way and a large, long fish(18 inches at least)swam away. Not sure if it was a trout(there are some pretty big ones in here) or catfish feeling frisky and he spit it, or I spooked it after the lure loosened up. I could've sworn it started running with it though.

Mosquitos were baaaad, so break out the bug spray if you go before this weather dips again.

Any place in the area you would recommend for a rod repair???

If you go to the Bass Pro on Sycamore View, they have a lady named Jane who does rod and reel repair.  Shes a guru, and is incredibly affordable.  She's fixed a Shimano Curado for me, and while she was at it replaced the guides on my Denali rod.

The Bass Pro guys back in fishing have her card, but you can leave your gear at Bass Pro and Jane will come pick it up, repair it, and return it.  Takes a little faith the first time, but she's never done me wrong!  I highly recommend her, and so do the Bass Pro staff.

Hit 6 ponds in the area over the course of 4 hours(including drive time). Grabbed up 3. Chunkiest being around 3.5-4lbs at Fountains again!

Went to Shelby Farms to check out Patriot Lake. That pond is giant. I drove in the entrance and turned right around. I didn't want to break into a pond that large today.

I went to the pond far down the path in Johnson too. That pond would be killer if dialed in. Went around the left side this time, and fished around the line of trees on a "sand bar". I wanted to keep going around, but the quicksand kept me from going any further.
