Finally got rid of the skunk and out of my slump. Had to drive to Wolfchase Academy to get the lures I like because Collierville Academy was resetting their crankbait aisle. So I drove down Wolf River to Humphrey(across from the hospital) and saw that there's no fishing in there.

Backtracked to here:

cCk94WZ.png

Fished the pond on the left for a few minutes, then cut through the woods and hit that small pond on the bottom right. Was slow going for a while, then I pulled in a bass(1.45lbs) on shad color spinnerbait.

Then the fun started. I made a couple more casts and headed out to the bigger pond on the left, right where the skinny part widens into the bigger part of the lake. I initially wasn't going to bother with it, but saw some boils and started casting. In about 5 minutes a school of shad moved in and the bass started going crazy. Bagged 3 more decent sized bass(none smaller than the first) in about 10 minutes(or until the school dissipated) on almost back to back to back casts.

The largest weighed in at 3.5lbs and was the most fun to catch. Saw him blow up on the shad a couple times and tossed my lure out past him and he nailed it right when it entered his zone.

Very nice. Sounds like a very productive day especially for winter time.

Don't think I'm familiar with those ponds. I'll have to check them on google maps.

It's part of the Wolf River Greenway. Right by the corner where Wolf River Blvd meets Germantown Rd. There's some shared parking with a medical complex, and a paved path down to the pond. During warmer months there's usually a smattering of people out there fishing for bluegill.

I'm usually busy all week with work. Weekends are typically my free time to fish. At least until summer when it's daylight until 8 pm or so. That time of yr usually affords me a few hrs fishing in my neighborhood when I get home.

But we'll work something out one of these days. You ever get weekends free?

I'm free every Sunday, but I use that day to spend with my wife, and stuff around the house. Earliest I get off work during the week is 3pm, so until Spring I'm racing the sunset.

Ya'll holler at me sometime. I fish just about everyday some where around here. Plenty of "virgin" places to fish.

Nice one! I'm game when you are....... unless it's too cold. I'm ready for spring.

We might work out some Saturday then, if you can get off at 3. Won't be long til the days start getting longer.

New guy here, been lurking for a while. I primarily fish at Halle, WC Johnson, or the Grove, as well as some very small ponds out in the county. Here's a couple of my better fish in the last year.

Had another pretty productive Monday. Started down at the Germantown ponds. Landed 5 total on the day, though my first 2 hookups jumped off...thought that was going to be a bad sign. After I landed 3 there, I got out of dodge to get back closer to home before rush hour. Stopped by Johnson (fountains) for a few minutes and landed 2 more. Largest fish was 4lb at Johnson(middle), 2nd largest was 2lb in Germantown(bottom right).

That one on the bottom looks like he's been caught a time or two.

Dang! You caught that big one in the middle pic at Johnson in the pond with the fountains? I only caught a couple dinks outta there the 2 times I went. Figured it didn't have any decent ones.

Indeed, I haven't pulled anything out of there literally in months. I was asking myself, "why am I even bothering with this pond anymore?".  But I wanted to get a few more casts in before dark; but that one fish is going to keep me coming back in hopes that there's something bigger in there. Definitely a chunky fish.

Here's some different shots that I posted in the 'latest catch' thread:

Hello avid Bass Fishermen. Where is the Daycare Pond located? I transferred to Memphis last year with my company. Any help would be appreciated. Also where is Grove Park? I have fished the Humphries BLVD. ponds and will probably go back this weekend, throwing a Berkeley Power Worm and Rattle Trap, silver with black back. I did pretty good on the trap at Shelby Farms last weekend. Thanks!!!!

Where is Johnson Fountains Pond? Address or directions?

Grove Park*. Head down Wolf River(what Humphreys becomes) toward Collierville from Germantown, take a left on Johnson:

For Johnson Park, keep heading down Wolf River for a few miles until it meets Byhalia. Then turn left into the park. It's a large sports/park complex. There are 3 small ponds* visible from the road in the front. All have pipes that allow the fish to move from one to the next. One tucked back in the woods down the paved walking/cycling path beyond those. If you keep driving down the road past those and the baseball fields, you'll see the fountain pond on the left. There's another pond visible through the woods beyond the fountain pond, though I've never fished it. @wdphas poked around there.

*Grove park is seemingly "deep". And I have noticed that during these colder months, that the bite has gone pretty cold as well(for me). I did pull a decent bass out of there in mid-December, but I haven't gotten hooked up since--other than a crappie and a buffalo fish--on bass lures. You'll see boils about 50 yards out, but they don't like the baits I've been throwing.

**The pond closest to the road at Johnson was recently stocked with trout, so there's always people there lately. I was told they also lowered a grate that cuts that pond off from the connecting bigger pond. Apparently, from what I was told by someone else(not here) is that they stock it and let all the trout fisherman take them all out and then raise the grate back up.

And if anyone wants to ever meet up, I am free every Monday, all day.

I thought the same, which is kind of strange because no one has fished this pond besides me in ages, and he was the first one over 4lbs I've pulled out of there.

So i have been searching for a decent shop to have a guide repaired at and found a place called gator browns bait and tackle on Summer.  I plan on stopping by soon to see the shop and feel it out.  Anyone ever been here or have had a repair done there???

I've been there 5 or 6 times now. They have a decent selection of used cranks, spinnerbaits, etc. at a decent price. Few nice new baits, some made by guys in the area & surrounding states like Arkansas.

Thought about getting a reel cleaned & worked on there. But then one day I saw the guy spraying the heck outta a reel with WD40. And I thought, nah, better take my reel elsewhere. But, I will say the guy must be pretty cool cause he's a Mississippi State fan, lol. Even if he doesn't clean a reel with the right stuff.

Dont know anything about how they might repair a rod, sorry.

Any place in the area you would recommend for a rod repair???

Nah, remember we had this discussion in the other thread you started. I haven't found anybody local that will work on a rod and/or reel & would do a professional type job. I'd prefer somebody that really knows what they're doing work on em.
