Well, I'm not taking pics on the ground anymore, they never do justice to the fish. If there is someone around to take the picture for me, I'll post it up. In this case, another Memphis Pond Hopper might catch both of these fish, weigh them and post a picture...I hope it's you! Quote
BadBradBassMan Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Finally caught a bass at Grove! Weighed about .4 lbs. Chartreuse spinnerbait and I was glad to catch it. In response to Roadwarrior's gear: you have a leader (which i never use bass fishing) that costs $50 for 200 yards. Could that be part of my problem out there, I'm throwing lures with 15lb Stren white braid? The line can easily be seen by the fish. How long is your leader? What type of knot do you do from the backer line? What is the backer line? Maybe spring fishing requires more finesse than I'm experienced giving, and why i'm not catching anything. I was killing it last fall, but this year has been rough. Thanks for any help, Brad Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 11, 2016 Super User Posted May 11, 2016 You don't NEED braid and you don't NEED a leader, it's just something I am experimenting with on a couple of rigs. An inexpensive alternative that I STRONGLY recommend is either #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid on spinning tackle or #12 on baitcasting gear. To address your other questions: My leader is about 18" long so it is not inside the guides. The connecting knot is an Alberto. The mainline is #40 Seaguar Smackdown. On other rigs I am fishing Tatsu #8 on spinning gear and #15 on baitcasting equipment. I have three rigs spooled with Smackdown, all with Tatsu leaders. For all treble hook presentations I am using #15 Sunline Defier Armilo. Quote
BadBradBassMan Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Thanks for the response RoadWarrior. I've decided I need to throw some money at my fish catching problems: anyone selling a bass boat? I'm watching Craigslist, but haven't seen anything yet. Probably a fiberglass boat from the 90s is all I can afford. Quote

Josh Smith Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Escaped cons? Dang man, I carry a .45 and don't have a lockup of any sort close to where I fish. Is the fishing really that excellent there? Quote
Tery Songz Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 i was joking about them being prionsers i just said because of the way they were acting. i didnt want to injure any one since i dont know if i could do that if some one shoved me. i have an akm and never thought you can shoot some one for something like that for shoving u? can you? It depends on disparity of force, and the state's laws. In Indiana, if I were outnumbered like this, I could, though I would definitely explore other options first. Know what? We're thread drifting. Post down in the firearms forum and we can talk about self-defense. Regards, Josh Quote
UFpwrLifter Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Rented a boat at herb parsons Saturday morning. Fished for an hour then crazy gusts started blowing making hard for the trolling motor (on highest speed) to make it back across the lake. Decided to turn it in and pond hop. Stopped at Halle, missed a 2lb'r right at the shore, explored Johnson park for the first time hen finished at grove catching nothing at the last two places. It was a great weather day (little windy but kept the sweat away) and just what I needed after a long work week... To exercise my gear and listen to them sing. 1 Quote

BadBradBassMan Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 What kind of structure is in Grove? A guy told me there was a tree out in front of the first culvert, but I don't see where it would have come from. Any history on the lake? Is it man made by the city of G'town? Quote

jcbendall Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Hey everyone. Been fishing mostly private ponds until recently (my contacts all moved). So I'm trying to get back into the public pond scene. I've hit most of Shelby Farms, best luck at lake at Farm Rd deadend. Where else can i get some good bank action in and near Cordova, Germantown, or Bartlett? Thanks guys, Quote
