North or south? I explored the entire south (of boat ramp) shoreline and didn't see anything good last wkend.

All over can be good.  Just depends.  Once the grass tops out good, look for the grass that sounds like rice crispie cereal popping first thing in the mornings.  Throw a frog and old on.  Here are a couple videos from a couple years ago.

Bait question:

Anybody use any frogs at a pond in the area?  I'm always tempted to buy some lunker hunters just to make my tackle box look more complete, but I'm not sure where in town I would use them.

I listed a few places here:

Went to grove park today for the first time. Slow day, only had one bite, but beat my personal best so I'm a super happy camper.

Does anyone fish that pond directly next to the main grove park pond? It looks very shallow. A lot of cover, but most of the vegetation appears to be brown/dead.

Congrats on the PB.  That is what that place is about. Size- not numbers!  I have never caught anything in the other pond!

I saw this chunky girl head down, tail up digging her bed at Grove last weekend.  I sat a few different things on her nose, she was completely oblivious...

Any of you guys ever use a Ned Rig around here?  I know they are real popular in the mid-west.  Just curious.

Congrats!  Hope you got her back in the water fast, looks like a rat was trying to eat your fish.

Yep, I wanted to share what caught the bass. Pics alone are only of value to me, pics with details are of value to all.

I'm confused on Grove park.  Is it the lake in the middle of that google maps picture or is it the one on the right?  If it is the one on the right where do you park?  I can't seem to find anywhere to park from the google map.

Thanks for your help,

Is Grove the lake with a real small parking area on the northeast side, off the Dogwood Creek neighborhood street?

I have gotten skunked like it is my job at Grove and City Hall over the last week.  I usually can only get out for an hour or so at a time, which makes it tough to "figure it out".  Anyone had any luck at the Memphis ponds this week?  What were you throwing?

A friend caught his PB last week. 7.5 lbs, weighed, pictured and released.

Yes, Grove. I was there yesterday and zeroed, but I watched another regular land and release a 6+.. He was not actually bass fishing and caught her on a crappie jig.

How's it going everyone!

Yesterday I had the chance to check on Johnson Road Park. It looked like it would be a promising pond but it seemed overfished. There were some people fishing for bluegill but I believe I was the only one fishing for bass. Did not get a bite but the bluegill did hit my soft plastic.

I am looking to check out some spots soon. Weather permitting of course.

What is everyone's Go-To Bait right now? I see that shaky-heads with a finesse worm should work good for the bass in transition.

Hey everyone, long, long time lurker here, just joined the forums today to post in this thread.

I think it's really cool to see so much amicability between the local fishermen. As long as I've read articals and watched videos on BR, I've never paid much attention to the forums. After doing a Google search a couple days ago, looking for some new ponds for my son and I to try out, I came across this thread. It's refreshing to hear that some don't hold everything so close to the vest, and encouraging to know I'm not the only one picking up trash!! LOL

Hope to hit some of the previously mentioned ponds out in the next couple of weeks and maybe meet some of you guys.

Brushog,

Not to oversimplify, but it just about all works this time of year, the fish will mostly be shallow with WT in the low 70's right now.  I've caught fish w/in the last week on top/middle and bottom.  I guess I'd say if it's windy and/or overcast, wind something...If it's calm or sunny, maybe slow down with plastics.  I've caught a few fish recently that look spawned out or at least not heavy w eggs, so I'm thinking this current full moon cycle is probably winding down the majority of the spawners in the ponds.

Welcome to the thread backlash!!

You guys post up some pics when you get into 'em :)

Here's one of those spawned out ones, this is from yesterday evening, I'm pretty sure I caught her about 3-4 weeks back a little heavier :) :

Tough weekend.

Friday I tried out Crosspoint, Casper Lake and Orgill Pond: nothing. Moved to a pond off 385 in Millington I haven't tried in many years: got a 1 and 3 pretty quick then the bite died.

Saturday my son and I tried some new water for us. Went to Lowe's, Chick-Fil-A and the Shelby Farms pond next to the mulch pile: zero, zero, zero. Although I did hook into a clam/muscle/oyster at Chick-Fil-A with a square bill, that was a first for me. We packed it up and came home to our pond and coaxed several 3 pounders into biting so the day was not lost.

I sure hope they finished spawning on this last full moon and get out of this funk .....

I'm moving to Arlington, and found two spots I'm going to try out on Saturday.  Pine Lake, just south of 40 and a couple miles east of Arlington; then there's a pond off of 385 and hwy 70.  I've seen two guys put bass boats in there, so I assume that there are fish in there.  Lots of visible structure in the water.

Anyone ever got a hook wet at either of these spots?

Mr. Ranger I've always thought Pine Lake was private/resident only so I've never tried it.

I'm interested to hear how you do on the one at 385 and 70, always been curious if it was any good but never tried it.

Good Luck!

I'll post and let you know how it goes.  Pine Lake is listed as public, and there is Dam access.  I guess if I get chased off, I'll post that info too.

Sorry to hear guys. I tried grove park and couldn't convince one of those spawners to bite either. Ended the day with one tail bite off and a lost (user error) megabass vision oneten; cash reward if found :)

Good Morning Guys,

This past weekend I had a chance to check out some of the famous spots.

Friday, at Chickfila I caught a nice pounder on a creature bait, only bite of the day.

Saturday I checked out Daycare Pond and the pond behind LifeTime Fitness in Collierville. However, no catches on that day. However, I did get one hit on a buzz bait at Daycare. The water was too perfect not to try lol.

Sunday turned out to be my best day. Checked out Shelby Farms right off Trinity road. Caught 3 bass and a crappie. Not bad for my first time out there.

Keep casting guys!
