JDJ Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Nice catch! You have me beat at Daycare. I'm skunked there most of the time and thought it was pretty barren -- at least until your post! Quote
901_angler Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 That was by far my best experience at daycare pond. They are in there just have to be patient and hold your mouth right. I've still yet to land a decent fish at Grove Park but not giving up. Quote
JDJ Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Now I can assure you first-hand that GP holds some very nice - but alo very fickle - bass! Quote
Mr. B44 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Anyone been out to Nebosha lately? Staying in the area for a few days and it's the closest place, thinking about heading over there. Quote
Dhuskey Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I was at Neshoba 2 days ago. Water was high and really muddy after the storms. Fished a spinnerbait and a rage blade, zero bits in about an hour. There was and abundance of snakes that ran me off. I only fished the side of the pond where the Baptist and small offices are. Quote
Mr. B44 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Nebosha is the pond behind Chic fil A correct? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 3, 2015 Super User Posted April 3, 2015 Nebosha is the pond behind Chic fil A correct? Yes. Quote
FishWitWiz Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Any of the ponds near the Wolf River have seen the snakes wake up lately... Neshoba, Humphreys, Lowe's, and Mulch ponds have all gotten snakey lately. Mostly water snakes, have only seen a few cottonmouths. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 3, 2015 Super User Posted April 3, 2015 Still slow on the ponds for me, but I did catch a nice one today on the new ZMan Pro Series/ ZMan MinnowZ. Quote
jaredkelley6 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hey guys, new to the forum. Live out in Millington and have been lookin for some new decent places to fish besides around the house. I came across this post off google. What other lakes are there out in Bartlett, Germantown, etc. to pond hop? Not that im trying to take yalls honey holes, haha. If yall don't mind helping me out Id preciate it! I know where the lake is behind chic-fil-a but haven't got to fish it yet, I fished appling behind the church for about 3hrs last year and only hooked one off a buzzbait. Jared Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 4, 2015 Super User Posted April 4, 2015 Grove Park near Houston Middle School, Civic Center Park in Collierville and Neshoba behind Chic-fil-A. Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Is the lake behind Lowes private? Someone told me that, but not sure if that's true since I see several of you guys talking about it. I have never fished the Day Care pond so thinking about giving it a try sometime this week. I fished Graham Lake up in Jackson, TN yesterday. Wasn't sure I would even get a bite after that cold front just came through. I ended up catching 11 all of them small. But I was satisfied under the circumstances. Quote

You can also put a small boat in there if you want. The shoreline only has a few places accessible for bank fishing once the brush grows in. Lots of bass and crappie in there. Snakes too. Be sure to park on the paved area and not the dirt/gravel due to erosion issues. Quote
calcio1020 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Wow this thread is great. Love seeing fellow catch-and-releasers and it's so cool how you guys don't mind sharing good spots with others. I moved to Memphis in August for medical school and have been itching to get out and try to catch some fish when I can spare the time (which isn't very often, haha). I live on Mud Island and I was wondering if anyone has any experience fishing for bass in the lagoon on the east side of the island (Wolf River Lagoon). If so, any tips, spots, etc..? Thanks! Quote

Welcome to the site! There are a couple of guys who live on Mud Island who regularly fish the lagoon, but I don't recall any of them posting here. You may want to just scope out the area and ask someone you see fishing. Strangely, the last couple times I've been down at Miss Cordelia's, I've seen a guy riding around with a Duckett rod resting across his handlebars... Let us know what you find out, I've been curious myself. We almost bought a place right off the lagoon when we moved here a few years ago. Unfortunately, the year was 2011 and the river looked frighteningly close to the houses, so we ended up in Germantown. Quote

Grizz88 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hey everyone, Stumbled across this post from a Google search and wanted to add my 2 cents in to help out and get a few tips. I've been fishing in memphis for a few years now (native Memphian) and here is some of my experiences. Fished behind chickfila pond a couple days ago-had one small bass fishing that retaining wall with a 1/8 white spinner bait Fished the Audubon park pond (backs up to botanic gardens) about a week ago. Couple of tentative hits but no fish. I've fished this pond a lot, never really catch much but the bass/crappie I've pulled out have all been big. Anyone else ever fished here before? There's a pond in memphis (near Bartlett) off shelby oaks drive (behind baymont inn) that I fished once and caught a few. Used to live in Cordova-fished country squire apartments several times with little luck. Another apartment lake just north of wood chase dr and gtown pkway and had nothing. There is a couple of ponds off Macon in the woodland hills subdivision in Cordova (near Macon hall elem) that are not too bad. Pulled lots of small fish out there My wife and I recently bought a house in east memphis, so I'm open to suggestions to fish around here. Great threat btw! Quote
JDJ Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Fished Grove this morning tossing a white chatterbait for about and hour and a half. Didn't get any fish to take interest, but did get to watch the guy geese chase the girl geese all over the pond. Spring is here! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 16, 2015 Super User Posted April 16, 2015 Anyone on here fished any golf courses in Memphis area? With or without permission? Lol We DO NOT CONDONE any illegal activity. Get permission first or stay out. Quote
jaredkelley6 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I understand and support that. I don't guess I worded that the best way. I was just wondering if anyone has been able to fish any golf courses around here, legally. my mistake Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I fished the lake behind Lowes Thursday evening for the first time. Had two bites but didn't catch anything. This lake looks really good. Wish I had a small boat, that would make it much easier to fish. Anybody have any luck here? Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Also, has anybody fished the lake behind Kroger on Whitten Rd? Was wondering if it was worth my time to go there. Quote

Zach Rowe Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I wouldn't waste my time behind Kroger. I've fished there several times with not a single bite. I'm at collierville civic today, I'll be here for awhile just Dont know what to fish here Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Also, has anybody fished the lake behind Kroger on Whitten Rd? Was wondering if it was worth my time to go there. Ok, thanks for letting me know. Also, have you fished the lake at Rockyford park? Fished there one time and didn't get a bite. I just moved to Bartlett so I'm trying to find another place close to fish besides Appling. Quote
