FishWitWiz Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Fished Daycare pond this morning for 2 hours, not a single bite. Last week when I stopped by there I had a nice one on a wacky senko but more importantly, I was disgusted to see an enormous amount of trash all around and in the pond. The dumpster for the daycare center must have been overflowing when they emptied it, and the trash blew everywhere. Styrofoam plates, plastic bags, paper, diapers. I brought a contractor trash bag today and filled the whole thing walking around the pond and surrounding area. It is that time of the year that many of us Memphis pond hoppers will start visiting our favorite ponds. I urge everyone to pack a trashbag or two in their kit and let's make sure that we take care of the places that make us happy. 2 Quote
jc450rr Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Has anyone ever fished Olive Branch park before? I have a few times and its full of 10"-12" bass. The small pond in the back is the one I go to Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I happened to run up on this forum while I was snowed in over the last couple of days! I also like to fish many of the local ponds around town. I haven't seen anyone talk about Appling Lake in Bartlett. I personally have not caught anything that big myself but I witnessed A guy last fall pull out a 10 pounder. Also, I really like the lake that is right behind Neshoba. Back in January I caught a really nice one close to 8 pounds on a Rapala Husky Jerkbait. Ready for the weather to warm up so I can get back on the water. Maybe I will see some of you guys around. Super User roadwarrior Posted March 7, 2015 Super User Posted March 7, 2015 When do you start your new job at BPS. I started Tuesday. We have a lot of to do before the Grand Opening, May 1. I have never been involved in a project this big being built from scratch. We have more than 600 employees working full time while the Pyramid is still under re-construction. The hard hats are working three shifts, 24/7. Quote
bassin427 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Has anyone ever fished Olive Branch park before? I have fished the front one with the pier and have caught a few nice one's in the 10 to 18 inch range. The fish in the back lake I have caught have all been small. I mainly fish Central Park and have caught plenty of nice bass out of it. Quote
Faustino Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Fished appling lake today, caught 5 in an hour. Nothing big ,I was using a black and blue chatter bait and a lipless crankbait Quote

I fished the south end on Monday and there were tons of small fish hitting my spinnerbait. I talked to some kids and they said the south end had some big fish last year but there were guys who came by every few days and took every fish they caught. Quote

They were all 12 to 13 inches. There was another guy there i saw catch a 3 pounder. Quote
FishWitWiz Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Where is Appling Lake located? Appling Lake is on Appling Road north of Stage Road. Right behind the govt complex. I fished Daycare this morning from 7:30-10:30, caught a little one and a 3 pounder, both on chart/white spinnerbaits slow rolled. No hits on senkos, swimbaits, chatterbaits or jigs. Quote
BryanBrown Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Has anyone ever fished Olive Branch park before? I haven't had much luck with OB park other than some small ones from the smaller pond that's across from the oval track. Central Park in Southaven is a much better option... 4.5lber today from Central Park on a NorthStar swim jig (bull gill) rage tail menace. 1 Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Fished Grove Park this Saturday and only got one bite the entire time but it was worth it! This may be the heaviest fish I've caught in quite a while. Man she was fat!! Anyway, after asking someone to take my picture I safely placed her back to catch another day. 1 Quote
JDJ Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Nice fish Basstracker! Road Warrior might know her by name. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 24, 2015 Super User Posted March 24, 2015 Looks familiar. We need to get an official weight on that girl before someone keeps her. Quote

I live in OB as well and plan on hitting up central park today. Any certain spots in that lake that you like to fish? How about the smaller lake right next to it? Any thoughts on that one? Quote
Basstracker 95 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I caught her on a chartreuse Colorado blade spinnerbait. Just rolled it over a small log that has fallen in the water and she slammed it. Water was still fairly muddy. I thinking that fish was at least 9 lbs. Quote

901_angler Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Fished daycare pond from 6pm-8pm tonight without a single bite. Fish were flopping around everywhere but couldn't get a nibble. As soon as the sun disappeared it was like a switch turned on. Caught 8 fish before 9pm with acouple being 4lbs+. Only way I could catch them was to cast parallel with the bank while keeping my 3" swim bait as close to it as possible. I could watch their wake as they nailed my lure. One of my best fishing experiences to date. All fish caught were released back into pond asap, after taking pics. Size 13 shoe for reference. Quote
FishWitWiz Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Dang... I had contemplated fishing last night but those storms were going pretty good and I spent the weekend battling Louisiana redfish. Quote
