I've been fishing at Orgill (Casper Lake-main lake) for 13 or so years, and the biggest thing I've caught is a 5lber on a jerkbait off of the long stretch of flat bank between the first two coves. I've fished every inch of that place, using every tactic, all throughout the day. I know it gets deep by the rock wall, but without a boat, fishing that place is not too fun.  I've fished IH a few times this year, only catching a few dinks. The only spot I really see movement is in the back right corner, where there are a few trees in the water. That's not to say I haven't been catching anything, but the size has dropped considerably. I'm being forced to slow way down off the cranks and switch over to Senkos, which I really don't prefer. I'm seeing them cruising and holding up right on the bank, but their interest level is low--almost lethargic.  Caught this one Monday(plus a few others) in Gtown on a watermelon Senko, and is the largest I've caught in about three weeks. 2+ range, 2.5 if I'm being generous. He was fun to bring in though, I was watching a giant school of shad/minnows moving around right in this little "narrow" cut and I kept tossing the Senko all around and inside the school. Jumped out of the water a couple times for dramatic effect, but I had him hooked squarely in the corner of his mouth.   I will say, re: Senkos, that it's a whole lot of fun landing them on my med/fast action spinning rod. It's nice to feel that bump and watch the line start to run, then getting a solid hookset. Requires a bit more patience than the trebles on my preferred cranks Is that at Nashoba? I spooked what I can only guess was about an 8lb cruiser 3 ft from the bank, near the rock piles on the CFA side. Quote
kwd1987 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 I caught a nice fish @ Nashoba last Thur @ lunch.  https://i.redd.it/pvw59h1pj85z.jpg     Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 26, 2017 Super User Posted June 26, 2017 Great pic!  I caught one around 3 lbs today on a jig. Quote

It was on a a 5wt fly rod which is super underpowered because I wasn't expecting this guy.  I doubt i'll beat this record for a while on a flyrod. 1 Quote
kwd1987 Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Does anyone fish the hinton park pond in collierville? Quote
WDE Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Couple scores at Johnson. Picked up my first ever gar from the boardwalk pond on a Senko:   And finally landed a good bass out of Fountains after a prolonged dry spell on a squarebill. 4.4 lbs, I absolutely love it's patterns and color, I was very happy to return this beautiful bass to the pond.    2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 29, 2017 Super User Posted June 29, 2017 That is a beauty! Â 1 Quote
WDE Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Haven't been out much in the past 3 weeks. This bass had to have a fever, he was so warm.   Can we get a weather-temp break please?  Edit: a quick grab before the storm dropped:   Quote
JDJ Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Caught a few bass in the extreme heat last weekend at Herb Parsons on a black/blue jig. Â They were holding in the rip rap at the dam. Â Best was just under 4 lbs. Â But I wouldn't recommend a metal jon boat in that kind of heat! Quote
WDE Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Got a couple 1-2lbers out of the front pond at Johnson yesterday around 5pm on a lipless crankbait. That water is very warm right now. My pool is 95 degrees currently, and the pond water is at least that warm.    Quote
WDE Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Johnson front pond seems to be in trouble. I'm going to call the game and wildlife department tomorrow.   Update: definitely a fish kill/die off/turnover. Apparently this happens every year at Johnson. So keep that in mind if you're struggling to find any (live)fish in the front ponds. Quote
WDE Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 All the dead fish have been cleaned out as of Thursday afternoon.  Finally pulled a bass bass out of Halle.   And I got a couple out of Grove, and Johnson:   Size seems to be a common thread. Quote
WDE Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Neshoba, Johnson, and some other public pond right off Wolf River/Farmington(forgot the name of the park, my first time dropping in). 3.25 and a 2.3 pictured.  1 Quote
WDE Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Still out here catching fish. Where's everyone been? Â 1 Quote

randylw67 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Hi all. I am new here, haven't been fishing in a really long time. Decided it was time to get back in to it and found this forum and this thread. I went and bought a couple of reels and some lures last night, and then today after work I decided to head to the Day Care pond since it was close by. I wasn't there for 15 minutes and got my first bass in maybe 5 years or more. It looks bigger in the picture than it really was, maybe 3 lbs at the most. But it was way bigger than i expected, I figured i might get a couple of baby bass if even that. But I was thrilled with my first catch in years, and I guess I can say I am hooked again :-) Thanks for all the invaluable information here. 2 Quote
randylw67 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Thanks raodwarrior!  Has anyone here used the Deeper Sonar Pro+ or any other casting type sonar devices? Being away from fishing for a while, I was looking at some videos and ran across one where a guy was using it for bank fishing and it looks really incredible. It can tell you the water depth and temperature, and of course find fish. But it can also be used to survey the entire pond/lake and map out the depth across the whole lake (or at least in casting distance). Being that I know little about the lakes and ponds in our area, this would be very helpful information.  However, I kind of have mixed feelings about using one, in that the main reason I decided to take up fishing again, was that I work in I.T. and have a pretty stressful job. One of the things I like about fishing, is that it has always been a very relaxing experience, whether I was catching any fish or not. So I kind of decided to get back in for therapeutic value as much as the thrill of catching fish.  I also used to be heavily in to photography, but one of the main reasons that I quit and now leave my camera at home on trips, vacations, and outings, was that I spent to much time focusing on getting that perfect picture, than actually enjoying the experience of wherever I was. So that's the other hesitation that I have, is that I may get too caught up in the technology and not just enjoy the experience of fishing.  All that being said, it would still be great to have knowledge and information on frequented lakes and ponds that otherwise may take a long time for me to just figure out.  Would be interested in anyone's thoughts on the subject, and if anyone has had any experiences using these castible sonar devices.
