Great catch Vicdougle!  Where was that?

Thx Dave  definitely one of my top 10 bass.  It's from a private lake community in Cordova.  Riverwood farms.  Caught it by the dam.

Five good fish last week including what I think might be the biggest bass in Grove.  A guy took out my "pet" last year and claims it weighed 10.4 lbs. The bass I caught and released last week was CONSIDERABLY larger.

p.s.  A friend of mine says a 12 was caught and released at Nashoba last week.  Does anyone know anything about this report?

There's a 10+ pounder lurking in Grove?

I've had success with a new bait recently- a square bill crank called a 'baitball'.

http://www.basspro.com/LIVETARGETYearling-Bait-Ball-Rattlebait/product/1407150711485/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT

Bought a new rod as well, its the Academy brand H20 cranking rod- best feel of any rod that I own (even vs some of the more expensive ones).  Reasonably priced too at $49.99, but you can catch it on sale for $39.99.

Thought I'd share.

anybody had any luck recently at Daycare?

Posted

Fished daycare last week over a lunch break....saw a few cruisers but no bites.  Threw a chatter bait and a drop shot for about an hour.  Kinda need a boat to fish it well as there is a lot of vegetation around the edges.  Good news is I just bought a Pelican Bass Raider 10 so I look forward to gettin it out there soon!

Ken, wanna PM me next time you head out for a morning bite? I'm off this week and wouldn't mind learnin a little more how to fish these pressured ponds...  Thanks!

My son and I fished Grove yesterday evening. We couldn't get 'em to take a dark brown Pit Boss but they were loving a green Rage Craw - each Rage-rigged.

fished Daycare this afternoon for about an hour. caught 4 bass, all around 1-2 lbs, using a red senko. nothing exciting, but better than nothing.,

went to Cordova Club golf course this evening, fished the lake on Hole #2. caught 7 bass on green & red senkos. all around the same 1-2 lbs.

so overall, not a bad day. but nothing to get too excited about. will probably hit up Grove tomorrow afternoon.

Still better than not fishing!  That's the exact same result that i have had the past few outings using a Senko.  Dinks.

Hey JDJ. I believe I met you out there at Grove on Friday. Thanks again for the lure.

I'll be looking to get out there again soon. I will probably go out to Nashoba this evening or tomorrow.

I had a couple of odd Buzzbait catches last week, thought I'd share.

Wednesday night I had a 5 Lb. catfish just destroy the buzzer, the biggest cat I've caught on one.  I didn't think too much of it, stranger things have happened.

Then, 2 nights later, I had a massive blow-up on the Buzzer at a different pond, I thought it was a monster bass...but about 30 minutes later and all the way across the pond, it happened again! This time it was about a 6 lb. cat,  and I knew instantly what was going on.  They are spawning right now, and just being territorial!!

At any rate, if you like to catch catfish, I would advise going shallow and fishing for them in areas you would for spawning bass.

BTW, the bass are biting lately too:

This collage was one night last week over about a 90 minute period, 4-5-6-7 Lbs.

This one weighed 6.5 and darn near swallowed my buzzer, I've never seen one down that deep before.  I only had about 5 feet of line out when she hit too!

Hope everyone is catching a few!!

Newbie to this sight,  Do neighborhood lakes apply to this thread?  If so  try otter lake in raliegh.  I grew up there  caught a 12.5 in the 90's.  lake was stocked with floridas.  haven't fished it in years but I bet their are some bruisers in it now.

Welcome aboard!

The majority of posts on this thread are about neighborhood ponds. Locally I fish Halle Park in Collierville; Grove and Nashoba in Germantown.  My "home lake" is Pickwick.

Heading to pickwick this saturday and will be at the aqua marina.  Not fishing during the day but staying on a boat that night and sleeping there.  I plan on taking my poles and just fishing around the dock. Any chance of catching anything around the marina or no?

Absolutely!! I love fishing around the Marinas when I'm there.

There is easy topwater fishing early and late (and at night) at any of the Marinas, and also pretty much anywhere you find Rip-Rap at Pickwick!!  Have Fun!

What kind of structure is in Grove? A guy told me there was a tree out in front of the first culvert, but I don't see where it would have come from.

Any history on the lake? Is it man made by the city of G'town?

Don't know about a tree, but appears someone caught the man made double sunken plastic chair reef and forgot to release it.
