Also, has anybody fished the lake behind Kroger on Whitten Rd? Was wondering if it was worth my time to go there.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. Also, have you fished the lake at Rockyford park? Fished there one time and didn't get a bite. I just moved to Bartlett so I'm trying to find another place close to fish besides Appling.

I live a block from Rockyford park. There used to be fish in there but they got sick and they all died in like 2 days (smelled awful) I Dont think they have restocked it yet either and I Dont thing there going to.

Thanks a bunch! You just saved me a lot of wasted time. Good luck at the Civic Center, I know there are some good ones in there.

I blanked at the civic center with not a single bite all day. Where in Bartlett are you? Quail ridge apartments has some fish in them, no size but its something to do. I would use a zoom crawdad there if you ever go.

I live in the Oak Forest neighborhood.  I ended up going to Appling late yesterday and caught 3 small ones. All on a Shaky head jig with a zoom trick worm. I will look into Quail ridge. Thanks again for the advice.

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum.  It is great to see people coming together to help each other out with this sport we all enjoy.

No, it is part of the Wolf River Conservancy and is open to the public. You can also put a small boat in there if you want. The shoreline only has a few places accessible for bank fishing once the brush grows in. Lots of bass and crappie in there. Snakes too.

Be sure to park on the paved area and not the dirt/gravel due to erosion issues.

It there anywhere online to read about putting a small boat in the pond behind lowe's, and does the pond have a name?  I have a kayak I am thinking about using in there.

Also my pond experiences so far have not been great.  I have fished daycare twice and caught one small one.  Fished behind chic-fil-a once with no luck but did see a guy out there catch a decent bass probably about 3lbs.  Fished Civic Center pond a couple times and only two small ones to show for it.  I have heard there are some really good fish in the civic center pond though. I am still new to the area and always looking for new places to fish.

Any one ever go to poplar tree? If so what's your favorite thing to use out there?

Fished it twice . Big waste of time. Barely got bites and few fish we did catch we're horribly small. But that was quite awhile ago. Talked to some friends recently and said fishin still ain't even decent. I wouldnt reccomend your time or gas to fish it but that's just me. If anyone else on here has had better experiences let me know!

There's no info posted online about being able to fish or canoe/kayak there.  It is part of the Lovitt Woods tract, but to my knowledge, the lake is unnamed and among friends we call it "Lowe's Pond" so that there's no confusion.  I'm a member of the Wolf River Conservancy - great organization that if you live in the area, you ought to consider joining - and before putting my canoe in back there, I got with them to make sure it was legal.  Here's a snip of the email that I got back...

"The Conservancy holds a Conservation Easement on that lake by Lowe's... The Conservancy prohibits the use of motorized vehicles including motor boats.  The Conservation Easement allows for active recreation, which includes canoeing and kayaking.  It's very possible to put a kayak into the lake without causing additional erosion.  Yes you can fish out of a kayak or canoe.  Do not drive a truck down or back a vehicle down to unload the kayaks;  this promotes others to do even more erosion-causing activities.  Finally, there is a fish advisory on this part of the Wolf River and all lakes fed by the Wolf, so I would not recommend eating the fish.  Happy Fishing!"

Pretty straightforward.

I've kayak fished on "Lowe's Pond." Didn't catch anything that day, but it was the middle of last summer.

Anyway, I almost caught a lunker in the back there to the left of the trees...seemed huge, but he spit out my hook :(

I can tell you though, if there is a way for you to  "cart" your kayak further back behind that lake (over the hill past the awning thingy), there is another pond back there that is FULL of fish. I have bank fished there briefly but didn't catch anything. Look it up on the satellite of google maps, here:

Here are two important things to bring to the ponds right now:

1) A Buzzbait!! They are working good on every local pond I've hit in the last couple of weeks!!  Don't put a trailer hook on it unless you want to catch about twice as many fish though :)

2) Also, please bring a trash bag and something to pick up some of the junk along the bank!!

Most of the ponds I've fished are full of garbage right now, I just take a lap after I fish and load up a walmart bag, takes 5-10 minutes and makes fishermen look GOOD instead of BAD!!

Most of the garbage is styrofoam bait boxes and stuff other fishermen put there, not good.

If you drive down I-55, Mississippi has a "No Litter" campaign going. The billboards show a deer hunter and basically frame hunters as major litterbugs, fishermen don't look much better.

If we want to improve our image as outdoorsmen in the general public, we need to start doing a better job out there!!  Even if that means picking up after other people who don't know any better :)

OK, off the soapbox.  'Good Luck w the Buzzers!!

Fished Lowes Pond tonight with very little success. Missed 2 on a Zara Spook and

couldn't get a bite on anything else. Not sure I will fish there much, there were a ton of people down there. If any of you have any luck on this lake I'm open to

suggestions?

Eh, the surge of fair weather fishermen. Yesterday was the first exceptionally nice day of the year and on top of that, it was a Friday. Give 'em a few weeks and they'll all be back inside hibernating from the outside world.

Anyone ever been out to Edmund Orgill? I'm going tomorrow just wanted to see if anyone has caught anything nice out of there.

Nothing nice, but take some senkos, and fish them slow!

Are there any new fishing spots in the area of Memphis, Collierville, Bartlett?

Not unless you built a pond and stocked it. :)

Welcome to the board. Lots of info in this thread with lots of local pond info.

Fished Neshoba this morning during the rain hoping to find some hungry ones around the culvert inflows. Tried buzzbait, craw and lipless crank. Got skunked.
