BryanBrown Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Any tips for fishing Halle Park in Collierville? I've tried fishing there a couple times last summer, but floating/submerged weeds were a problem. I had to clean my lures off almost every cast..... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 There's a member here who took a monster bass there and has posted pics of it. Halle park pond hasn't produced anything for me the few times I've been there. Unless you count the middle-aged married woman hitting on me hard. It was not Brandi Glanville, so don't get too excited.   The story is real and the fish was released!  I'm probably going to fish Grove tomorrow morning. Say "Hey!" if any of you are there.  -Kent Quote
Pater Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I hit Johnson Park for a little while yesterday afternoon. Didn't have any luck but was good to get out and test a few setups. We're heading to KY lake in a couple weeks and I'm looking forward to breaking the kayak out of storage. May have to give the Day care pond a try in a couple days. Pater Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 My son and I went to the day care pond Saturday afternoon between the basketball games. He caught two 1lb'rs on a small silver shad swimbait and I saw another guy come up as we were packing up and grab a small one with a chartreuse spinnerbait. Nice little pond. Will have to try it again this week. volchuck Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I hit the chick-fila pond a couple times last week early with zero bites, herb parsons I hit with the kiddos and the little I fished I got zero-ed again grove park and day care at lunch a couple days and again zero, Â then had a buddy who lives on walnut grove lake took me out on Friday for a slump busting 40-50 bass afternoon. Restored my faith in fishing and the rattle trap 1 Quote

Good idea on the trash bags. I'll have to put a couple in the truck. We stayed on the southeast corner for most of the time. The way the wind was blowing I figures that little runoff area was as good a plase as any to start. Is there any of cover to speak of around the rest of the pond? The only thing I say was a few areas of grass coming up 1-2' from the bank in a few places. Quote
Elkaholic247 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Hello everyone,  Im new to this site, as well as Memphis. Im a recent transplant from Colorado. I moved out here about the same time the weather started getting really cold so I have not had much of a chance to figure out the area. I just wanted to thank everyone for the wealth of information on this thread. Now that the weather has turned I plan to start hitting some of the ponds previously mentioned. I was a member of a similar website in Colorado and you could not pry people's bass ponds out of their dead hands. Needless to say good bass fishing in Colorado is hard to come by.  If anyone wants to show someone new to the area the ropes, or just needs a new fishing buddy please let me know. I am a catch & release angler and I always treat the places I fish with respect. My personal best bass is just over 5 lbs (a true monster in Colorado) but I hope to change that soon!  Looking forward to meeting some of you out there.  Colin  P.S I have a 15 ft jon boat that I am currently working on registering, as well as access to one of the private lakes in town. If anyone has some spots they are reluctant to give up I am more than willing to make a trade. Don't worry, I can keep a secret. Quote
Dhuskey Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Hey everyone, I just stumbled onto this topic through a google search. I'm not native to Memphis but I'm looking for fish, this board is a great resource and I appreciate all the insider info. Hope to see some of you beating the banks soon. Doug Quote

The bass are currently spawning and the bite is slow. I caught one bass and a soft shelled turtle yesterday at Neshoba, not a single bite today at Grove. Quote

gr8outdoorz Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 A little report for the locals!  Hit Glen Springs Lake this Saturday for a few hours.  Caught 6 in 3 hours. All but one were between 2 & 4 lbs. Water temps were ranging from 70.1 to 72.6 degrees and about 3-4 ft visibility.  Saw a lot of big girls on beds and a few beds that looked recently empty. Swim jig counted for a couple but frogs got the most. I had a couple hit & miss the frog so when that happened I tossed a drop shot on the bed next and was able to coax them into the boat  Have pics on my phone, but at work so will post them when I get home. Super User 00 mod Posted April 28, 2014 Super User Posted April 28, 2014 Nice! I have been waiting to hear a frog report from there. Now I MUST go!!!! LOL  Jeff Quote

JDJ Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 So where is Glen Springs Lake?  I hit Neshoba a week or so ago for about an hour the morning after a big rain. Caught a 1.5 pounder and 2.5 pounder on a swim jig and trailer around the stormwater culverts on the Wolf River Pkwy side of the pond. Quote

Dhuskey Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I really need to get out and try these spots. I live in cordova so I'll probably head to Neshoba first. Great Info here. Quote
pat_walker_fishing Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I'm sure this is an old post but in Shelby forest the bass are on fire! I cought a 20lb bag out of poplar tree lake 2 weeks ago.... That's the first time in 20 years I found some bigger fish there. All post spawn.... They were all in about 6-12ft of water along side a channel swing. I was throwing a lucky craft flat CD12 in table rock shad and ball patrol football jigs. Also there is a pond behind crosspointe baptist church that is loaded.... I've been catching them on lipless cranks and tubes 1 Quote
CreazyBear Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Hopefully if doesn't rain I be going to Nashoba park behind chi k - file today at 6 am Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 10, 2014 Super User Posted May 10, 2014 I was there, but you weren't. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 Caught four fish including a nice one at Grove this morning. This was the first time fishing the new Rage Tail BUG! Quote
pat_walker_fishing Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I'm sure this is a silly quistion but am I allowed to fish any of the ponds along humphys blvd.? I live in Shelby forest and I beat these ponds to death and I'm looking for something new. I'm sure y'all have covered this somewhere in this post. And if so what should I expect? Is it more numbers or are there some size in there? Thanks guys.. Patrick Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 12, 2014 Super User Posted May 12, 2014 The ponds are public, so the answer is yes. However, be VERY careful they are heavily infested with snakes and ticks. I have been told that there are some big fish caught, especially in the pond directly across from the hospital. It's just not worth it to me, I don't fish them. Quote
JDJ Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 RW - nice going at the Grove! How did you rig the Rage Bug -- maybe t-rigged with an EWG or on a jig head? And how does the Bug differ from a standard Rage Craw? Quote
