msolorio Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 By whose standard? They sure aren't by mine. PowerPro Super 8 Slick has better qualities than both, and Kanzen is better than S8S. Saying they're the best on the market is entirely subjective. They're good, but they're not at the top of the food chain anymore. well by mine as well as others who ive talked to about the 2 i mentioned and the 2 you mentioned. either way what it comes down to is personal preference. ive used s8s, wasnt impressed, same with kanzen. thats not sayin they suck, just personal preference. as for the "old" power pro, that stuff is legend in the eyes of some. the reason i said what i did was because it seemed to me tuf line and samurai were both rounder, smoother, and quieter than kanzen and s8s without some coating over it. idc if braid is noisy or "rough" so i really dont care for the coated braids out now. Super User Hooligan Posted February 18, 2012 Super User Posted February 18, 2012 Kanzen has been tested as the tightest, most consistently round braid currently on the market. S8S has been tested in the same manner as is more consistent than Samurai and 832. Kanzen is also less likely to loosen under tension, the reason being is that it has less stretch initially. It's a tighter weave than any of the others. It's also got remarkably better abrasion resistance. That's not opinion, that's industry fact. Look at Seaguars data, look at IGFA data, look at ratings data. All of them will tell you that. Quote
HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Super slick Second this vote! When tossing into any form of junk nothing smaller than 65lb. The 50lb broke on sticks as small as a 1/2" in diameter. Bumped up to the 65lb in brown and I absolutely love it! Open water application...6'-8' fluoro leader. Cast like a charm with lower noise than regular PP. Not silent, but most definitely quieter. Quote
backcast88 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I hardly ever use braid anymore but when I did use it a lot I had real good luck with Stren Super Braid (now Stren Sonic Braid). Quote
