Brand0n Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I was using a black/blue football jigs 3/8oz with a rage chunk hopping and dragging constantly down to a channel by the dam in the lake i fish and he slammed it so hard a part of the rod where the bottom of the reel sits into made a cracking noise. he slammed it as i was about to bounce the jig up and hooked himself. such a good fight. didnt know a weight. any guess? Red Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Don't have a guess on the weight, but what a pretty bass!!! Quote
Brand0n Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 had to have been caught between 10-15 ft deep. caught a dink earlier in the day before this one Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 16, 2012 Super User Posted February 16, 2012 if you have any measurements, there is a fish weight calculator on this site, but take the weights given with a grain of salt. I'm guessing she is about 18-19 inches long that would place her around 2 to 2 1/2 pounds. Congrats Quote
Fishmaster10 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Nice fish, I'd give her 3 1/2 lbs. Quote
Big-O Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Nice one for sure and fishing the deeper drops alond a dam structure is one of my favorite Big Fish techniques! Have to say that you're using my favorite bait choices for this time of year too, WTG Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
youngbassman Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 ill say maybe 3 but prob about 2 1/2 Quote
Fishmaster10 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I know this doesn't always apply because it depends on how the bass has been eating, but assuming that this bass is 18 inches long it should be close to 3.36 lbs on average. The girth of this fish looks pretty average to me. Take a look http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/catchrelease/bass_length_weight.phtml Quote
Super User tomustang Posted February 21, 2012 Super User Posted February 21, 2012 That's be about 2 1/2-3lber here, about the scale posted in the link, those weights are like 2lbs over what's up here Quote
bflow_6 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I know on ky lake a 5 inch fish this time of year will easily go 2 pounds or better i would give that fish between 3 and 3 and a half pounds Quote
