chubaka Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Anyone fish these just plain old Texas or weightless? Any success? How would you fish these? Quote
bmadd Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I fish them texas rigged pretty often. Especially when I'm flipping, pitching, or punching. One of my favorite craw baits. Quote
Gangley Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 the crazy legs chigger craw is really good for flipping and pitching. It comes with antenna on it which throw out more vibration than the regular chigger craw. However, both will work nicely for flipping and pitching. Quote
Pantera61 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 The benefit of the Crazy Leg chigger, you can just pinch off the antenna if the fish want a subtle presentation. Quote
camman Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 If you plan on T-rigging them I would go with the 4" for sure. I use them for punching/flipping...but mainly as a trailer on my jigs...great bait Quote
wagn Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I fish them texas rigged pretty often. Especially when I'm flipping, pitching, or punting. One of my favorite craw baits. What's punting? is it some variation of a pitch? i've never heard of that before. Thanks As for the Chigger Craw I use them for pitching. Those and the Paca craws are my 2 favorite craw type baits Quote

bmadd Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I meant punching. I was watching Monday Night Football so I might have been thinking something else haha. I would also recommend the 4" version. I like green pumpkin and black/blue flake. I like the crazy legs version as a trailer on a football jig. Quote
adclem Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I use the 4" version for flippin and pitchin and the 3" version for jig trailers. The Crazy Legs Chigger Craw is also great for flippin and pitchin. I really like green pumpkin for this. Later, Quote
Fishbone Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I bought some and was very disappointed in the lack of action. They seemed stiff and dead. Haven't tied them back on since. Quote
90x Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I have been absolutely dying to buy that bait!!!!! :o Whenever I go to tackle shops I limit myself on what I buy. I always leave with a couple of hooks, zoom plastics, and a jig. I have never got around to actually purchasing them because they are so expensive. I have seen pictures of them and think that they would make a hell of a fishing trip. I heard alton jones won the bass master in 2008. All he did was texas rig it with a weight of your choice and jigged it back. Flip it into heavy cover as well as trees and grass. Try using the yum wooly hawg. I brought this bait out of impulse and had it in my bag for 2 years. When I started using the texas rig it worked phenomenal (used the same method as the chigger craw.) When I got my first jig kit, i matched it to a jig and had fun the whole day catching bass while no one else with me did. Man that was an awesome day!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
SoFl-native Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 i like the paca craw better with the solid head/hollow body. I get more fish per bait and they are cheaper. Quote
Quinte bass Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Love em, love em, love em! My 'go too' bait when they don't want to open their mouths! Usually fish them texas rig....deadly along a deep weed line I have found! Quote
Quinte bass Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Indeed....a similar and equally good plastic from Berkley is the 4'' Mud critter....my stand-by if I I run out of Chiggers.... Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted September 18, 2009 Super User Posted September 18, 2009 I've tossed these a 1/2 dozen times, never had a bite yet. I've texas rigged, used them for trailers, even ds'd em..nada. Quote

I guess it's a case of different strokes for different folks....or in this case, what may work on one body of water/part of the country, may not do so well elsewhere. I do feel this is something we loose sight of at times....I doubt their is such a thing as a 'universal' hot plastic/pattern combo ....If anyone knows of one...buy them all up....and make a fortune on Ebay....
