Gangley Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 What brand and size weighted hooks do you all use on your flukes? I am using a ZOOM Fluke but I'm not sure what size weighted hook I should use. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2009 Super User Posted September 17, 2009 Flukes, or Super Flukes? Or one of the other two sizes? For Super Flukes, I don't use any weight, and I either nose hook them with a 1/0 snelled Owner Mosquito Hook, or rigged weedless with a 5/0 Owner Wide Gap Plus. The Baby Flukes make great drop shot baits. Any of the sizes are also great on Sworming Hornets and Fish Head Spins. Quote
MSPbass Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I prefer a bigger 5/0 EWG hook on Super Flukes. This gives it a little more weight to cast with but not enough to hinder the darting action on the retrieve. It deadsticks nicely too. Here a thread from earlier this year on flukes. There's a lot more if you look around too. Flukes are fun, you can fish them many different ways. Good luck! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1240800645/14#14 Quote
Gangley Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 A ZOOM Fluke, not the ZOOM Super fluke and not the ZOOM Tiny Fluke. Just a regular ZOOM fluke. Thanx for the information guys. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2009 Super User Posted September 17, 2009 3/0 Wide Gap Plus, no weight. Work great on the chin spin jigs mentioned above as well. Quote
D4u2s0t Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 my go to fluke setup is a 1/8 oz keel weighted mustad hook 4/0. If you want to do a faster retrieve, I find that it stays straighter in the water. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 17, 2009 Super User Posted September 17, 2009 yeah, if I want to fish a fluke deep I use a 4/0 or 5/0 1/8oz keel weighted wide gap hook. I think I also fish some 1/16oz but I usually fish 1/8 Quote
TxHawgChaser1 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 3/0 regular worm hook and small split shot about 6 inches from your lure......... Quote
Super User RoLo Posted September 18, 2009 Super User Posted September 18, 2009 An "unweighted" Gamakatsu 4/0 Superline hook weighs 21 grains. That's perfect for the decent rate I prefer (about 2 ft in 5 secs). I hook the fluke centrally in the length, so it darts and falls horizontally. Roger Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 18, 2009 Super User Posted September 18, 2009 I would use a 1/0 EWG that has a 1/16 ounce weight on it. Quote
