Bionicman Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Just picked up a couple of these today. I have never fished one of them before. I got one in Baby bass and crawfish and some other one i was wondering where you fish them(I noticed they are very shallow runners) and how you fish them and most importantly DO THEY CATCH FISH? BOOYAH Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I use them alot and love them, mostly i fish them around rock points or partial submerged timber. Chrome and black work pretty good here, i also fish them in weeds if they are not too thick. I have good success with the weeds early on in the year before they get overgrown, they seem to hit em in the open pockets or right after coming out of the weeds... Quote
NEBassMan Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 i agree. throw then anywhere in and around shallow cover. guaranteed to catch nice bass! Jason Quote
SwampMan Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I give them 2 thumbs up. Great bait for the super shallow waters. Quote
Rose_Jackets67 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Definite fish catchers. My favorite colors are tennessee shad and white (maybe called ghost). My favorite place to use them is shallow rip rap and over submerged wood and brush. adam Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 They work everywhere for me but I really like fishing them right above submerged grass. My favorite color is bone but firetiger has worked well in lakes. Allen Quote
Guest avid Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 great fish catcher. If you can the front hooks separate from the rear. I once smashed one to a million pieces because it was tagling on every other cast. My anger management class stats tomorrow. Quote
DCinMD Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 My buddy set me up with a PS66MH paired with a stradic 2500FH casting reel. The rod says 3/8 to 3/4 lures with 8 to14lb. test. Would the baby-1 be to light for what I'm working with? The baby's are listed at 3/16th!?! I'm hoping to be able to afford a second combo once I get my tax money back so if I need a different set-up for these lighter lures please tell me....Thanks again!! Quote
VaBass80 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 That setup is fine.. but when you meant stradic you meant spinning reel right? I threwthat same setup on the potomac throwing the mann and it worked fine, but I was throwing 8 lb flouro. goodluck! Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 28, 2007 Super User Posted February 28, 2007 I found the Baby 1- listed as both 1/4 and 3/8oz? I have fished them on 8-17lb line any never had a problem. Allen Quote
victory23 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 throw it just about anywhere and you WILL catch fish ;D Quote

I cut the bottom hook off on the front treble if i have one that keeps tangling up. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 28, 2007 Super User Posted February 28, 2007 The Baby 1- is the best shallow crankbait I have evr used period! I believe a Bassmaster Classic was won using one as well. Like others have mentioned the hooks will get tangled some times but I have not had that much of a problem with it. Allen Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 These lures have been very productive for me in the past. My favorite colors are RedCraw and Crawdad. Ive caught many bass wth theese 2 patterns in all diferent types of water clarity. -WM Quote
logger Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Great bait! I agree with everything already said. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 1, 2007 Super User Posted March 1, 2007 A very good lure, but I have to agree with what Avid said. I have never had a lure tangle its hooks together as much as this one will. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I like to use it mid summer. I like the blue gil pattern yellow on the bottom with blue on the top. The only thing is I never really caught any good sized fish on it. I catch lots of 12 inch bass, but never anything with any shoulders. And always be sure to check the strength of your knot after you catch one on it lol. I was catching alot of fish one night on one and went to cast it and set the hook on a fish and the knot let go. > it was my fault for not checking but i had to go buy another one the next day. Quote
sal669 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I like it as a follow-up when I'm fishing top water baits (buzzer,walk-the-dog type) and the fish just blows on it. I usualy hook 'em on the baby-1. Also on top of shallow weeds and the inside weed edge. I use a medium power, medium action baitcaster with 10lb P-line (low memory) mono. Quote
justfishin Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Hey Avid, I hope when you go to your Anger Management class that you have two girls in your class like was in the movie. Quote
