Silas Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Well, I took a chance and ordered the 723, 7'2" MH today.....from TW. How bad can it be? I'll either pair it up with a Shimano Calcutta 200GTB for light cranks and frogs. Or, with my just bought today, Curado 200E5, for small cranking. Should be in later this week......I'll let you guys know. At present, my best rods are the G Loomis and a just acquired Dobyns Champion Extreme. Also have a Mojo, that is OK. I'm hoping it is at least BETTER than the St. Croix Mojo.....which was $100. UPS delivered the 723 today....put a Pflueger President with 832 yellow braid and took it out on pier. Put a Jackall frog on it. Casts well: a bit more heavy than I thought it would be. Will give a good workout tomorrow. Better than the Mojo for sure.....but still...looks....utilitarian, I guess is the word. Sort of a "workhorse." That will be fine; I just thought it would be a little better. Works better than it looks. So, I'm pleased. And, it looks like it will set the hook with the frog very well. Quote
livewire84 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Had a chance to use my Diesel 6103MEF (spinning) Love the power and action, plenty of backbone. Not worried about breaking it in the future after the workout it got today. Sensitivity is good too though it is a little tip heavy when paired with my President. I like the grip, kinda wish it had a foregrip though and I managed to bend the hook hangar pretty easily today fighting a fish in. All in all a pretty good rod for only $70 Quote
bassandcats Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Just updating the thread i got the 7'2 MH casting and 6'8 spinning diesell for christmas.. put a lews speed spool on the casting and a president on the spinning. Love the way they look and feel so far. Havent used them yet but cant wait to try them Ill update when i actually get to use them. Quote
thehooligan Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I handled the 6'10 spinning rod at a fishing flea market today. They were selling them for $55 new. I really had to restrain myself from buying one, really nice rod for that money. Might pick one up in the future for just for a beater rod.... Quote
upnorthbassin Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Their glass cb rod is great for the money. Sure it has some lesser expensive components on it and you can tell right away...but that's what to be expected for the price you pay. This is purely a "meat and potatoes" rod. It has it where it counts but won't impress anyone or win any beauty contests. I like that. If the other rods in this lineup are this good I might just need some more of them.....or all of them. Super User rippin-lips Posted January 28, 2013 Super User Posted January 28, 2013 I purchased the 6'10 spinning from TW then found them somewhere else a good bit cheaper so I ordered a second spinning rod from them. Haven't been able to fish them yet but so far I like what I see. Enough that I ordered the 7'6 casting rod on Friday for a second flipping setup. For under $60 shipped it's going to be a tough rod to beat. I wish the lineup was larger but then again I'm glad it's not because then I'd end with a bunch of them. Quote
