So did it make a move to the top shelf in the tackle box? If so, what got moved out? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 12, 2012 Author Super User Posted February 12, 2012 Fishing treble hooks, or any exposed hook for that matter, is an issue on the Tennessee River. However, if you can keep them of the bottom, the fish eat 'em up! The Silver Buddy is basically the same lure. The down side to both, in addition to hanging up, is catching every species in the river. In this region, white bass and striper are always on the hunt.. Quote
detroit1 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 C'mon RW, you can't be afraid to call the lure by it's name are ya? Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted February 13, 2012 Super User Posted February 13, 2012 C'mon RW, you can't be afraid to call the lure by it's name are ya? Even the mods can't escape the site's auto-censor! Let's give the old boy a break and blame the bait company for a poor choice in names. Quote
detroit1 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I forgot about the sensor...i thought he just didn't want to say it. Speaking of Cotton Cordell's lures..does anybody have their "Loud Mouth" surface lure of the mid 70's? I have 2 (brown and green perch) in what looks like about 3/4 oz. It's kinda like a cross between a hula popper shape with a narrowed jitterbug face (mouth), and a prop on the back. It has 3 trebles- 1 on back, and 2 mounted towards the front, parallel. It's WILD, man! I have a bunch of C.C.'s lures from the late 60's - 70's...about 20 spots (2 one knockers and 2 floaters i still use) a few bayou boogies, a few crabs, etc. Cool baits in a red and clear hard plastic box. later.. (oh, and sorry RW ) Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted February 14, 2012 Super User Posted February 14, 2012 Changed the spelling? I was wondering if ya had a beer or was sippin on some bourbon when you came up with "guaranty" Quote

I had the same problem (hanging up a lot) with the shad blade type of lures. I replaced the trebles with open-shank double hooks with the points facing backwards. It helped a LOT. Tom Quote
Bryce C Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 shhhhh..........blade baits dont catch fish those are just goofy lures you find in grandpa's tackle box. Quote
