Shane Procell Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 We just finished up fishing for snake heads and bass with my friend Charlie Moore for the NBC sports "No Offense". It was a 3 day barrel of laughs and fish. The target species was snake head and the by catch was bass. This was the 5th show we have done together and like the previous shows, it was a blast. My friends got in on the action by providing the camera boats. Fellow BR member Catching had made some custom frogs in the New England Patriots colors. Charlie used them and caught 7 snake heads on them. We finished up at Markham Park with spinner baits and did very well. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 11, 2012 Super User Posted February 11, 2012 Good stuff, Shane. Looking forward to seeing it when it airs. Next time Charlie comes down, somebody needs to get him out of those designer jeans and shirts and find him some fishing clothes.... Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 11, 2012 Super User Posted February 11, 2012 Pretty cool, BTW, is that a River Hawk you're fishing out of? Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 11, 2012 Super User Posted February 11, 2012 Pretty cool, BTW, is that a River Hawk you're fishing out of? That's a Gheenoe. I think Shane has a video or two posted here of it. Having seen it in person, it's a sweet ride. With the motor he's got on the back, that boat really gets up and moves when you hit the throttle. GLADES Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Very cool Shane. Looks like everyone had a great time. Quote
Shane Procell Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Pretty cool, BTW, is that a River Hawk you're fishing out of? It is a Gheenoe "Super" 16. It has a center console, 30 gallon livewell, Hy-Jacker jack plate, 50 Mercury 2 stroke with a custom stainless prop. Not the quickest but launches a load onto plane in ultra shallow water. I would have a much bigger boat but some of my honey holes are so tight and shallow that this rig has proven to be the best tool for my application. Quote

I was interest as you and Charlie Moore were standing in a smaller boat and it looked super stable. I fish a shallow rocky river and the only way to fish it is by jet boat, you can use a prop when the water is high if you are very careful but in the summer when the water gets low a jet boat can't get to a lot of water so float fishing in canoes or jon boats is ususally the easiest and safeist way to go. I was looking into River Hawks because they are stable like that and I have heard of Gheenoe before, a friend uses one when he is visiting his daughter in Florida. Thanks for the info, too bad they don't sell them here in PA. Quote
Big Bass Man Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Very cool!! Looks like y'all had a great day. Quote
pmanion Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hey Shane Just wanted to say thanks for the great time, we had fun coming down and the experience was awesome for everyone in the crew. It was great meeting all your friends and Snakehead fishing is a very different and unique thing. Thanks again for everyone who helped and once again, I had a great time... Paul Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 12, 2012 Super User Posted February 12, 2012 Anybody who can stand to be around Charlie for more than 30-seconds has my deepest respect. You did good and it looks like you did not kill him. 1 Quote
WHYoWHY Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Hey Shane, This Kevin/Krzkev I was wondering why you didn't wait until it was a little bit warmer. Don't they bite much better in the warmer months? I havn't fished for them much since the water temp dropped, I havn't had as much luck. Up until Nov we were getting them up to 8 lbs and all the really big ones seem to find a way to get off every time. I am looking forward to seeing the show, its the second time you have had him out with ya, right? L8ter...... Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I hope its much funner filming the show than what they actually air on it. I really dont care to see segments wasted on which high end steak house he is eating at though... Quote
pmanion Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Charlie Moore No Offense is a lifestyle show... It's about the best fishing, food, cigar/wine bar and everything else interesting or unique to the area that Charlie and his guest try or go to. You're right Red Earth, its not your typical outdoor show. It's a fun show, and that's what we do. Paul Quote
pmanion Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hey L8ter, Charlie was scheduled to go somewhere else, but we were able to move things around do to scheduling of the show to fish when we did. Even though they say the weather should have been warmer, it seemed to work out well and Charlie was able to catch some nice size Snakeheads. I think for coming when he did, it was still a very successful Snakehead experience...... Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 15, 2012 Super User Posted February 15, 2012 Thats awesome! I love his show, he makes me laugh, and my wife will actually watch it. Looks like a good time, did they say when it is gonna air on TV? Quote

Looks like a good time, did they say when it is gonna air on TV? Hey how are you doing, the show will air Thursday March 29th on NBC Sports @ 9pm est. It was a lot of fun down in South Florida with Shane and the guys. Snakeheads are very different than other fish that Charlie has gone after. Glad to hear that you and your wife are fans of the show. Shane will be the best and most informative part of the show, unless your looking for cigars or food. Quote

POPRG Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Thanks capt. shane,i'm sure to watch it! may sound like a stupid question, but i have to ask..do you release the snakeheads,or kill em? Its a law in new york that they must be killed and reported to a d.e.c. officer as to where they are caught. highly invasive species. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 28, 2012 Super User Posted March 28, 2012 I'll have to check it out. I'm a huge Sox fan and figured I'd love Moore... but it just hasn't happened. For some reason when I watch him he just smells like a Yankee fan to me. Can't explain it. Hopefully your episode will sway me to start liking his show. Quote
