Zoff Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 What would be your choice and why? (I am going to buy on of these this weekend) Abu Garcia - Revo SX Abu Garcia - ORRA SX Bass Pro - Enigma Bass Pro - Pro Qualifier Quote
Super User tomustang Posted February 10, 2012 Super User Posted February 10, 2012 Why the Enigma? The only thing that's tauted for is anti-backlashing for beginners.. Quote
Chris Wilson Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Revo sx. Just bought one. Super smooth. For about the same price online as in store you could get a shimano chronarch. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 PQ.....it's never let me down very simple and effictive reel and has a great reputation. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 10, 2012 Super User Posted February 10, 2012 Orra, No. I own the Revo SX, Pro Qual, and Enigma. Right off the bat its a No for the Enigma, Pro Qual is the same price and twice the reel. As for the Revo SX, I love mine. Its a tough decision between the SX and the Pro Qual. If you want to spend the extra money, the SX has a higher drag rating than the PQ. The SX is far better to cast really light baits with too. Depending on what your intentions with the reel are, is whats going to help factor on what to get. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted February 10, 2012 Super User Posted February 10, 2012 You should buy something that says "shimano' on the side of it. A Chronarch or a Curado or a Calcutta, something like that. Shimano reels last until you lose them or someone steals it from you. It is really hard to wear one out. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 10, 2012 Super User Posted February 10, 2012 of the choices, I'd say either the PQ or the SX. Had an SX for awhile and liked it ok but ended up selling it to buy a chronarch D7 on clearance. The PQ is probably the best balance of quality and price you've listed. I personally wouldn't even look at the silver lips, way over priced. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The SX is the most refined followed by the PQ & Orra. The PQ has dual breaking so you may give it the edge for that. The enigma is a distant 4th not in the same class. Quote
Flukeman Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I have Revo Premieres and a couple Pro Qualifiers. My friends who have the SX love them. But for the money it is hard to beat the Pro Qualifiers. And at the end of the month you will be able to get a great deal on either of those two reels at the BPS reel Trade - in. The Pro Qualifier may also be on sale on top of the trade in deal. Quote
KCL655321 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I'd probably go with the PQ. I'm a Revo lover, but I always skip over the SX & go up to the STX(and that was before the STX had the dual brake advantage) & have always wanted to try a PQ, so if I was presented the option, I'd save the extra coin & go for the PQ. Not really interested in the Enigma & I'd rather try a PQ than an Orra. Quote
msolorio Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 hmmm tough one, i dont own the sx but have used it and theyre good, can be a bit touchy at times but once theyre dialed in theyre great. i own the orra and its been great, never had an issue. shimano, eh imo theyre a bit over rated but thats just my opinion, everything is personal preference. heard a ton about the pq's bein great and recently had the opportunity to use one and was impressed. enigma, no. im a lew's reels guy but if i had to choose between the reels on the list id go with the pq. NCLifetimer Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I'd get the PQ, has a dual braking system which the SX lacks. I would get either the PQ or SX, handle both and decide for yourself. Have the new PQ myself and I'm very impressed. Quote
