Simp Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 So I'm a little PO'd right now. I bought a nice Terminator Spinnerbait today with a hard to find Indiana blade and I loved it. I got a hook up pretty fast and caught a nice 3 pound bass. I go to un hook the fish and I look at the spinnerbait and the darn blade is gone! I couldn't believe it. I had the thing on less then 20 min and after only one fish it lost it's blade. I plan on calling them or emailing them but I didn't know if anybody else had these issue with them. What got me even more mad is I really liked the Spinnerbait before this and it was the only Indiana blade I could find. Quote
Stasher1 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Yup. Terminator uses the absolute cheapest split rings on their blades. The last one I bought was not only ultra thin and flimsy, but it had also started to rust while in the package. I actually had to steal one off of an old $1 Walmart SB that I had in my "overflow" box. > Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted September 11, 2009 Super User Posted September 11, 2009 This isn't good. I've also had issues recently with Terminator Spinnerbaits. I purchased two a couple months ago, and I can't keep the hooks sharp. Falcon Quote
Lobster Monster Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I bought one about two years ago and I've caught 100's of fish on it and it's still going strong. I love it. Quote
Gangley Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I have a terminator jig that when I pulled it out of the box, the weedguard literally fell right out. I will not buy more terminator tackle. Quote
harlinsdad Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I only use terminator spinner baits they make 2 different types one is cheaper. The larger ones are around $8.00 they ware and ware but they still break but wont bend. I had one to break this weekend but i had used it all year. I fish the river alot and i will say i am rough on baits, you have to be where they live. For my money you cant beat terminators. Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 11, 2009 Super User Posted September 11, 2009 Their products' quality has been as bad as Gammy in recent years. They went from amazing to absolute crap. I pray it doesn't happen with their jigs. Quote
Matt Jungblut Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 i have had the same problem with there spinnerbaits but it seems there t2 1s are the worse havnt had a problem with there t1 version but that is also the more expensive spinnerbait Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 My experience with terminator has been hit or miss. I've gotten some gems, but those have been few and far between. I've been using war eagle and nichols spinnerbaits for a while now and they are definitely much higher quality. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted September 11, 2009 Super User Posted September 11, 2009 Go get yourself a few Fleck Spinnerbaits. Been around for 40 years and just as good today as they were back then. Northern Bass Supply has a great selection of them too. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted September 11, 2009 Super User Posted September 11, 2009 BOO-YAH!!!! ;D Quote
looking4structure Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 X2 on what bass wrangler569 said.I had problems with dull hook. The War Eagle is now my go to spinnerbait. Quote
The Rooster Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I never did get into the Terminator. Got two of them on clearance one time at Walmart, the T-1's. Fished them for a while but never had any success on them (not the lure's fault though). Eventually I got tired of them in my box and gave them away. Wasn't much on pulling skirts off and on to change colors anyway. Too much risk of putting a hook through my finger! Instead I prefer to cut and retie for different colors. I'm also funny about the head matching the skirt, it's not enough for the skirt to be white when I want a white bait, the head and skirt both need to be white. Same with any other color I fish. I mostly use Booyah baits cause they're built well and have bright vivid colors. I also am lucky enough to live 5 minutes from a tackle store that sells their "house brand" of spinnerbaits that they make up from premade frames and painted heads that they put their own combination of blades on and offer for sale for less than $4. They have tons of colors and they are a high quality bait with a needle sharp hook. I'm amazed they sell them that cheap so I get those and fish them a lot. They're cheap to replace when lost or torn up. I get colors in them that aren't for sale by the branded spinnerbait companies, even colors that custom match the hatch for around here. The titanium frame on the Terminator is a nice idea though. Breakage on the baits I use though really has never been an issue. Can't think of a single time that's ever happened. Quote
Jake. Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Their quality has been going down ever since Rapala bought them out. Rapala moved the manufacturing to China. Quote
junebugmn Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Hey, was it one of those "quick change" one's? i bought one of those boat anchor's and the first cast the top blade went one way and the frame went another > stopped buying terminator's after that! Bill Dance can keep em,now all I use are Hildebrant's,and war eagle's,blue shad is my favourite color for war eagle's! junebugmn Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 14, 2009 Super User Posted September 14, 2009 I have lost a blade on a terminator as well, and a hook dulled really bad on the same bait. However I haven't had any issues with any other terminator baits, both spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Quote
