DSG for me. The closest BPS is at least 2hrs away. I don't think Cabela's is even in Fla and Dicks is usually less than 10min away.

I have two BPS,a Cabela's, Gander Mtn. and Dicks all within 30 minutes of me. most of my purchases are from TW. no tax or shipping. BPS only in the winter when I don't mind waiting two weeks for an order.

Bass Pro - Large selection, 2nd closest, easy parking when I have the boat on

Academy - Small selection, good prices, close, tight parking lot

Cabela's - Large selection, between Baton Rouge & New Orleans, easy parking when I have the boat on

Dick's - I think there is on in the mall area on other side of town, PITA to get to, tons of mall traffic

Gander Mountain - None here, good store, we've shopped there when we lived other places

BPS for most hooks, sinkers, and all around gear. Best selection of Zoom, etc. (Near me, anyway).

But Dick's has best prices on Yamamoto products by almost 2 bucks over BPS. And like Fishing Rhino said, when Dick's has a 2 for $10 of Yammie stuff, it can't be beat.

Stuff I can't find locally: Tackle Warehouse, Hi's Tackle Box Shop, etc.

well having all 3 within 15miles from my house i find myself at BPS the most for fishing because of the selection, Cabelas the second most because of hunting stuff and then dicks the least cause they have a terrible selection here

Just spent all my money at tackle warehouse. Nothing better than never having to leave the house. The list you gave are places I only go to waste time I never spend a dime in any of them.

Local tackle shop is the best. (not just because I work there) More personal and much more helpful. Plus if there is anything you can't find they will get it in for you. And they order from Bass Pro about once a week and prices are the same if not better.

The Cabelas and Dicks are hours from me. They have squat for bass gear. I support my local independent!! They try hard to have decent selections and special order anything they can for me and their reel prices are insanely low. If I can't get it from them, it's Tackle Warehouse for me for everything else.

DSG's to restock on single items, picked up some cranks 33% off their recently. TW when im placing larger orders.

I don't like shopping and I don't like browsing in a large store, so BPS seldom sees me. I use a minimal amount of lures, bucktails, spoons, etc, I replace lost gear before my next outing, which is always tomorrow. I know who carries what and that's where I go, in and out of the store in minutes. I do buy things at Walmart, open 24/7, 10 minutes from the inlet, my local tackle shop opens at 7, 6 on weekends and is 2 minutes from the inlet, DSG is 10 minutes from the inlet but to my my chagrin doesn't open until 9 :am. If one of those 3 places don't have it, I don't need it.

Of the three mentioned, Dicks is about 10 minutes from work, so of the three, I check there first.

However, overall, I check a local Mom & Pop shop first that we have close by. I can usually get a good deal there, and I feel good about it, but the selection is limited.

Second choice is TW. The free shipping and no tax makes their "final" price very competitive. However, selections is somewhat limited.

Next is Gander Mountain... about 30 minutes from my work.

Next is Cabela's (online) for mainly clothes, and I usually wait for a sale to offset the shipping and tax. Their closest store is about 2 hours away. I only get there about once a year.

Next are several other online stores that offer some sort of free shipping and no tax.

BPS (online) is last, usually because I've found what I want in one of the above, and they have the same shipping and tax charges, and their store is over 2 hours away.

Obviously, the Big Boys do have to pay for the multi million dollar stores, enormous stock, commercials, sponsorships, (like this site) advertising, TV shows and what have not. So, I do try and do some business with them... they do do a lot for the sport.

I would say BPS personally. I don't have none of the three close so I order a lot from BPS online. There is a Dick's about 40 min's from me and I have stopped in there when there is a sale, I think they are a little high on their normal prices.

I shop at dick's the most only because it is much closer to my house. But I usually end up finding great deals there as well! Sometimes I make the 2 hour trek to bass pro, but only when they have big sales or I'll be out in the area anyway.

gander mtn mostly because its 15mins away and my buddy works there(employee discounts and specials :toothy12:)

bps once in a while because its 45-50mins away but has the best selection

dicks when there is a sale

the nearest cabelas is 5 hours away

Living in DC, I have two BPS about an hour away in both directions..... which is great. I like to handle and look at stuff, and BPS is the best for that for me. Love having the catalogue to just look at stuff and I do like their website.

Cabelas- Not so much. No stores around and I do not love their website. I am not a hunter, and think Cabelas is better for all around fishing (like alleye and such) and hunting, but not really my thing.

Dicks- There is one not 10 minutes from my house, so always worth stopping in a looking at stuff. Also a forum members runs the outdor section there, so he stocks good stuff. Imagine that would make that dick's a lot better than most.

Gander Mnt- I went to one store outside richmond va..... was very underwhelmed. Very.

I also like a lot of the online realtors mentioned before.

Got to love our options now as fishermen

BPS for selection and because it is about 10 min away from my house.

BPS (1 hour away) best selection, a couple good sales a year, good group of people working there, they sponsor some of the trails I fish and my Jr Bassmasters Club so they get my business!

All Seasons Sports (1.5 hours mom and pop) buy all my steelhead fishing supplies from them when I chase the stream monsters of the Salmon River

Dicks (3 within 30-40 minutes) - used to go to all the time when they had the never ending bargain bins and larger selection. Now they don't have the bins, just one big sale after Christmas. Very little selection.

Gander (40 minutes away) - once in a while, very average selection for being the store they are and very few sales. Not to mention they are always moving the fishing department around so you can't even find things from one trip to the next.

Walmart (6 within 30 minutes) - used to go often, then the fishing departments got rid of everything, so I quit going. Now they are all of sudden getting some higher end stuff in - we'll see.

Cabelas (5 hours away) went once and they had very little for fishing gear. Great mounts room, trout stream and bargain cave though.

My first choice is Ramsey Outdoor (an NJ store), but their selection is weak in some areas so as a backup I go with BPS (online) because of thier selction.
