Seanyboy Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I'm looking at getting one of these rods for multi-purpose use. Probably a 7' mh. Any thoughts on this rod or advice from someone who already owns one? Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 7, 2012 Super User Posted February 7, 2012 The one with micros? Quote

tstone Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Great rod for the price, probably one of the best in it's price range. I love mine. Quote
Nkybassfisherman Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Great rod for the price, probably one of the best in it's price range. I love mine. I'm gonna second that one. Great rod for price!! If your looking for an all around rod go with the Medium and not the medium heavy rod. The medium heavy rod is more like a heavy rod. JMO Quote

I have two of them and will buy another this year. Quote
Diggy Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I love mine, the more I use it the more I feel justified in the purchase 7 mh micro for 99 can't go wrong Quote
bwell Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I love my Veritas rods.... For 99 bucks you cant go wrong. Quote
Christian M Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I Own the 7'6" MH, its an awesome rod, light, sensitive, durable, and it looks really cool too. I definitely agree w/NKY tho, if you're looking for an all around rod go w/the 7'Med because the MH is underrated. For $99 you just can't go wrong, GO FOR IT!! Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 8, 2012 Super User Posted February 8, 2012 I'm surprised by all the good reviews the Veritas is getting. Every time this was asked 6 months ago the general consensus was that they break too easy. I sold a 7'm that I liked a lot. I bought a 7'6'' mh that I like a little. Quote
Christian M Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I'm surprised by all the good reviews the Veritas is getting. Every time this was asked 6 months ago the general consensus was that they break too easy. I sold a 7'm that I liked a lot. I bought a 7'6'' mh that I like a little. When the Veritas rods first hit the market out I read a lot about them breaking easily too. From what I gather between the reviews on Abu Garcias website and other online reviews, it seems like the first batch of rods that shipped out to retail stores were bad. This could have been a manufacturing or shipping issue, but since then it seems as though they have resolved whatever the issue was. I was hesitant to buy mine at first because of this, but I read how helpful Abu Garcia was with customers who had this issue, and spoke to the manager @ Dicks who told me that there hadn't been any returns or issues with their batch. Also almost every review that I read about a rod breaking was basically before or during the first or second time using it. I figured it was worth the risk & decided to buy one, I guess I got one of the good ones because I used mine all season and caught some hawgs on it without any problems. Definitely one of my favorite rods Quote
bassinKS Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I have a 6'6 m and I love it really sensitive and light you won't regret it if u get ine Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted February 8, 2012 Super User Posted February 8, 2012 I have a 6'9" ML Veritas spinning rod. Don't use spinning gear that much. I bought this rod for my twice a year trips to the White River, trout fishing. Didn't want to spend a lot on a rod that would see such limited use, so I decided to try this one, and I have never regretted it. It is light and more sensitive that I expected. I like it well enough that I actually use for more than just the trout trips. If I were in the market for another casting rod, and didn't want to spend a lot, I'd get Veritas. But, I would do what a few others have suggested, and buy the model one power lighter than what you think you need. Mine feels to me more like a medium power rod than a ML. And yes, I'd buy another even though they are flat fugly. I really don't like that white finish. Quote
einsteins Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 How do these compare to carrot sticks and the yellow rods (I think they have reed in the name) I am new to buying rods based on specific use, I just bought a used bass boat and i am now trying to raise my fishing to a new level. Was at a bps a couple of weeks ago and saw the carrot sticks and was really impresses with how light they were. Then I was at dicks and saw the veretas and the yellow rods (sorry I don't remember the name.) I plan to buy 2 new casting rods and pair them with the bps pro qualifier reel. Thanks Einsteins Quote
SausageFingers Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 The Veritas is an excellent rod. In my opinion, they tend to be a little stiffer than the rating. They are super light and very strong. A very good value for $99. Quote
Seanyboy Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 The one with micros? To answer your question, no. I prefer rods with regular guides. All of these reviews sound promising. Like a lot of you, I read the reviews on tackle warehouse and saw that they weren't that great. I think I'll end up getting one. It was a split between that and the st. croix mojo, but I have a preference for abu garcias. Quote
bayouXpress Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 i started switching to these rods lately. Every now i then I'll come across a thread about someone having issues, but for the price i'm very happy with mine. I also love the ratings because I fish in slop 90% of the time and like the extra stiffness. totally opposite from kistler rods. I have 4 but have not gotten any of the new ones with the micro guides. The last 2 I also got an amazing deal on 65/rod. I do know that the bass pro shops spring sale begins somewhere in march if you want to hold on for a little while they will have some good deals. If you want to spend a little more kistler is having the 2011 year models for 75 off helium and 50 off mag rods. Quote

The sensitivity is much better with the Veritas and it would be my choice between the two. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted February 10, 2012 Super User Posted February 10, 2012 I own a Mojo and a Veritas. The sensitivity is much better with the Veritas and it would be my choice between the two. And the Mojo is a heavy rod compared to the Veritas! Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Y'all need to quit! You're gonna make me go out and get one of these. What if I were looking for a good worm rod? What do you suggest? Quote
Trav3 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I recently purchased a 7' MH Veritas and I was unsure about buying it, but I am glad I did. One reason is because I got it for 80 bucks NWT haha. I have not used it yet only because I have three reels that do not fit in the reel seat. That would probably be my only complaint. I am not sure if anyone else is having the same problem, but I am anxious to get out and use it. The three reels I currently own are BPS. Two extremes and one pro qualifier. Does anyone else have this problem? Quote
The Next KVD Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 The Vertias is the best rod in that $80-120 range. They are strong, durable, lightweight and very sensative compared to other rods in that price range, way more sensative than the Reese rods. However, they are not as sensative than my Avids or Ducketts which retail for $150+ Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 How do these rods compare to the new Compres or Carbonlites? Quote

I have heard of the crankbait rods having a different reel seat but I haven't got my hands on one yet to know for sure. Quote
Seanyboy Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Any other reels that fit the veritas? I'm looking at an Ardent Edge, Pflueger President, and Shimano Curado 200G. Thanks for all the input so far! Quote
