dave Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I've always wanted to give one a whurl. I see a few 150's at a decent, "try me out price". Does anyone have any opinions on the 150's? I know they are an older model and aren't made any longer. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 7, 2012 Super User Posted February 7, 2012 Nope, but I have a CTE100GT and two CTE200GT. I would rate them all 10/10 and have owned one for about 12 years, another 7 or 8 and the "new one" was bought second hand 3 or 4 years ago. All three reels are better than new! Quote
Five-Alive Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I've got a 150 Calcutta and love it. I have had it for over 10 years, it is the only round reel I have all myothers are curados. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted February 8, 2012 Super User Posted February 8, 2012 All Calcutta reels are great reels. The TEGT Calcutta reels are heirloom quality reels. If you come across one you should buy it. They can be used for just about any technique you can think of and with a modest amount of care they will last forever. Believe it or don't but all of my well used Calcutta reels are just as smooth or smoother than when they were purchased. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted February 8, 2012 Super User Posted February 8, 2012 Superb reels. They're absolutely excellent performers, and they will last for generations. I have something like 14 Calcutta reels in everthing from 50 size to 700. I use them for everything from light freshwater to medium saltwater. I've caught bigeye and yellowfin up to 150lbs on the 700s, and they're bombproof. Quote
baluga Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 2X on what all they said! Can't go wrong with the Calcutta! Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 i found calcutta 250 on 7ft GL3 mh rod in mint condition for $80, good deal? Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 8, 2012 Super User Posted February 8, 2012 Calcuttas when they first came out revolutionized what to expect from round reels, to this day they are the golden standard for level winding round reels.......now a Pluton is a different animal! Quote

I agree with you. I wish I had another couple of Pluton 200 SH. I adore the one I have, and would really like to find some more. The problem is they never come up used. Quote
northern basser Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I found a used cte200gt for my dad and put some abec 9 bearings in it before sending it to him. That thing would free spool forever. Quote
