38 Super Fan Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 It will not harm your reels! I spray on all my reels the night before a trip. And I soak the reel ( line ) when I spray. I have been useing the KVD line & lure cond. for years and I have never had a problem with the reels or the line!!!! Reel Magic I would never use on my line or reels! What's wrong with Reel Magic? NitroZ9 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 What's wrong with Reel Magic? Line & Lure is polymer based and does not contain oil or solvents. It actually bonds to the line and will not wash off like the other products. It can only be removed by friction. Products that contain oil and solvents can get into the inner workings of your reels and attract dirt. Quote

How does it actually get inside of your reel, and even if it did, isn't your reel already full of lube that could attract dust and dirt? http://www.lineandlu...ic_Will_It_Burn Not sure how much stock I'd put in what a company says about a competitor, my can of real magic plainly reads, "danger, extremely flammable". Super User J Francho Posted February 9, 2012 Super User Posted February 9, 2012 You can use whatever you want, but the KVD L&L product is far superior. I was a Real Magic user for years, one try of KVD L&L and I was sold. Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted February 9, 2012 Super User Posted February 9, 2012 I use both but one thing on the L&L that I dont like is the spray pattern it is too dispersed need to be more concentrated. I want it to go where it is pointed not all over the place. This spray is from 3inches away nothing in the center Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 9, 2012 Super User Posted February 9, 2012 I've actually noticed some vartiability in this department....needless to say, I have a preferred bottle that I reuse the nozzle off. You want to look for the ridged cap Quote
WhiteRockFisherman Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I used braid for the first time, and although I absolutely love it, I noticed a considerable reduction in my casting distance, which appears to be happending because the line digs into itself on the reel (like velcro lightly sticking to the line still on the reel). I had read lots of testimonials about line conditioner, but I was very skeptical. I figured if I was going to spend $8, I should make sure it works before making the same mistake twice. So I took my reel, braid, and a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait out at a bank on a lake where I regularly fish, and tried to hit my target. I gave it every ounce of stregnth I could, but each time I fell about two feet short of my target on the other side of the cove. I tried this again with the same reel, line and lure on three different rods of varying sizes and stiffness. I tried casting high, low, and every angle in betwee, and each time with the same result: I always hit about 2 feet short of my target. Then I sprayed about 3 to 4 pumps on Real Magic on the braid and let it sit for 12 hours as I had read online. I went back to the same spot the next morning, and the exact same this happened; fell about 2 feet short of my target. So I went back home, tied the line to a post, pulled all of the line out, and sprayed about 15 pumps on the spool as I reeled the line back in. I went back to the same spot, and same result. This stuff may work well for mono, and possibly flouro, but it does absolutely nothing for braid in terms of improved casting distance. I'm going to try the same thing with some 17# flouro I just put on a line and see if there is any difference. I'll post on update with the results. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 25, 2012 Super User Posted April 25, 2012 KVD L and L ONLY!!! Increases casting distance and also helps prevent memory. Quote
WhiteRockFisherman Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Well, I went out to my spot yesterday afternoon and again this morning to try the same test on 17# BPS fluorocarbon, but the wind has been consistently blowing at 13+ mph, so I'll have to wait for another time. Unless something really magical happens, this will be my one and only purchase of Real Magic. I may give KVD L&L conditioner a try on a future setup.....maybe. Quote
ChrisAW Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 KVD works. You'll probably only really notice a difference with heavier lines, like 12lb+ flouro's and mono's. I use it constantly for my flouro and 15lb mono rods. It makes a huge difference, but I personally don't have a lot of problems with lighter lines as it is, so I quit using it on them so I can stretch this bottle out to be used on my baitcasters. More than likely, anyone who says they didn't notice a difference isn't using heavy lines, or flouro at all. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 25, 2012 Global Moderator Posted April 25, 2012 Let me give you a tip I learned. L & L works much better if you use it on virgin line, especially floro. I used some line butter that I was given and then used L & L before my next trip 2 weeks later, I took it all off then reapplied. Mike Quote
