Super User 00 mod Posted February 7, 2012 Super User Posted February 7, 2012 I still have half a bottle left of the 23. Compared side by side the 20 just sits better with me. Remember I'm primarily an anejo tequila drinker. Pappy 20 and 23 is the only bourbon you'll find at my bar at home. Woodford, Basil Hayden, Bookers, Blantons. All yummy. I'm a wuss, gotta have a couple cubes of ice!! I'm kinda with Robert tho, I do enjoy me some good tequila! De la famila mmmmmmmmmm! Now ya'll are talking my cup of tea! LOL! I like tequila best. And reserva de la familia actually has one of my favorite ones, which is the Platino! Best unaged tequila out there, and I NEVER refer to Cuervo as best of anything except this. Have a pint at home now! LOL...... @ RLR- Life is too short to drink junk!!!!! Jeff Quote
Sfritr Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Just a little useful or worthless knowledge to add here: Blantons claimed to fame is they are the first company to mass produce a single barrel bourbon, AND Crown is no longer going to make the XR line, but you will still be able to get the Cask 16 and Special Reserve. SO if you really like it and want to have some to save for that special occasion, get it now, before it is gone! Jeff I know and was crushed to hear about the XR. I have been to the Blantons distillery and it is a good tour. Mid September is the annual Bourbon Festival in Bardstown KY. A very good time Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I half expected to see the pappy's 20 year being a billion dollars, but comparing wine prices when out to eat with the wife, the pappys isn't that bad.....Still out of my price range though. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 7, 2012 Super User Posted February 7, 2012 Here pappy 20 yr sells for $99.99 Jeff Quote
quanjig Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 00, you should try corzone, corzo and milagro if you enjoy the silvers. Had a guy turn me on to chilling it and drinking it with a slice of orange! Sorry, off topic! Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Anyone ever use whiskey to marinate steaks? Thought about using some wild turkey as a basis for marinating some beef. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 7, 2012 Super User Posted February 7, 2012 No, but I have used tequilla on fish, chicken, and shrimp. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 8, 2012 Super User Posted February 8, 2012 None. Quit drinking in the Army when the night I actually had to crawl from the Officers Club to my BOQ. Don't need it and don't like it. I don't even like wine. Am I a wuss or what? Quote
lazeebum Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I like Jim Beam. Sam I would never call anyone a wuss that chooses not to drink. Quote

bwell Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 If you guys havent tried Templeton Rye whiskey you should give it a shot. Its by far the best I have had and Im not a whiskey guy, You can find it online, but if you try to get it straight from the factory there is a waiting list. Quote
