Pappy Van Winkle. 20 year. I like it better than the 23.

Really? That is craziness! LOL

Tennessee: Prichards double Barrel

Bourbon: Everyday, Bulleit. Best I ever had Pappy 23yo

Scotch: Laphroig Quarter Cask(but I'm not much of a scotch guy, so the small cask gives it more of a Whiskey flavor and less peaty, iodine taste)

Irish: Tullamore Dew

Canadian: Its all too sweet!

Don't try this at home...

American: Elijah Craig

Blended scotch: Black Bottle

Single Malt scotch: Lagavulin

Irish whisky: ??? Haven't tried enough to determine a favorite

For some reason, I favor Kentucky whiskeys over Tennessee ones. I only have 'em after I get back to the dock though! A few light beers are OK for on the water.

A friend of mine gave me a bottle of this for Christms a couple of years ago.

Pappy Van Winkle is the cat's meow!

I have had almost all of the Pappys'. The line up that we get here is:

10yr old 90 proof

10yr old 107 proof

12 yr

13 yr rye

15 yr

20 yr

23 yr

Best bank for your buck without a doubt is the 20 yr. But if you ever get a chance to try the 23 ($249.99 here) WOW!!! I would never pay for it, but man it is some fine stuff!

Jeff

PS> Jim Murray of the Whisky Bible agrees with you and RLR about the 20 yr being better than the 23, but to my lips the 23 is the true cats meow! Not that I would turn down the 20 yr EVER!!

This is a topic up my alley. Maybe my favorite thing other than fishing is a fine bourbon

Bourbon: Blantons

Canadian: Crown Royal Extra Rare (way too expensive though)

My daily bourbon is either Buffalo Trace or Henry McKenna

Not much of a whiskey drinker though, I will have to try the Pappy's.

Just a little useful or worthless knowledge to add here:

Blantons claimed to fame is they are the first company to mass produce a single barrel bourbon, AND Crown is no longer going to make the XR line, but you will still be able to get the Cask 16 and Special Reserve. SO if you really like it and want to have some to save for that special occasion, get it now, before it is gone!

I still have half a bottle left of the 23. Compared side by side the 20 just sits better with me.

Remember I'm primarily an anejo tequila drinker. Pappy 20 and 23 is the only bourbon you'll find at my bar at home.
