brianwhite Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 launched out of jp coleman yesterday. had some fun but only caught a few fish. best two was a 5 1/2# drum on a black/blue jig ha, and a 4 3/4# largemouth on a bama rig Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 6, 2012 Super User Posted February 6, 2012 Nice fish & pic! BTW...Did you see the article and picture of the new Tennessee State record? 1 Quote
brianwhite Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 thanks! and yes i did, that was a monster. one over 10# was also caught a few days later i saw. THAT'S what i want to get ahold of haha. im going to fish the bfl @ pickwick march 10th. TN waters are off limits, any tips ya can throw my way?? Quote
radtech Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 nice fish minnow! Be careful with that AL rig. I was thinking only 2 hooks per rod was legal in ms?? I wasn't aware of this until recently. not trying to police you or nothing just don't want ya to get a ticket from the ole GW! Someone correct me if I'm wrong cause I'd like to try this lure out. Quote
brianwhite Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 thanks @radtech, looked it up after you mentioned that, to be honest this was my first time actually using the a-rig. i done some research and made some myself really cheap. below is where it's restricted: Grenada, Arkabutla, Sardis, and Enid Lakes Spillways of Ross Barnett and Okatibbee Reservoirs Spillways of Grenada, Enid, Sardis, and Arkabutla Lakes from spillway outlets to the end of the riprap Bluff Lake spillway in Noxubee County Lowhead dam on Ross Barnett Reservoir from the dam to the end of the Idle Speed Only/No Wake Zone area downstream of the dam. The Alabama Rig is legal to fish everywhere else in Mississippi. Quote
radtech Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Good to know! I was talking with a friend a couple weeks ago about this rig and he mentioned this law to me. I hadn't thought about it before that! Glad I can try it at pickwick now! Quote
brianwhite Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 to be honest i didn't even think about it at the time lol. i thought tn was the one that was restricted to 3. you live here in miss? Quote
radtech Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 yeah not far from ya actually. I live in fulton. Quote

lazeebum Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I have to admit it. When I catch a drum I still have fun. Plus if the drum are biting, it is a good sign that maybe the bass are too. Quote
brianwhite Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 yea the drum was a fun fight, till it got to the boat and was a little disappointed it wasnt a bass lol. Quote
lazeebum Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Yeah, it's kind of like staying at the bar till closing time, you think you have done good and then they turn on the lights. Quote

sidsmith03 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Nice article....PIckwick is by far my favorite place to fish Quote
lazeebum Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I fished the upper end of Pickwick Lake ( below Wilson Dam) Thursday afternoon with a partner and we caught eight largemouths, a few dinky yellow bass, and a ton of drum. I fished alone Saturday from nine am until five pm. I managed five keeper largemouths, some little crappie and more drum. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 20, 2012 Super User Posted February 20, 2012 Well, we killed 'em yesterday. Posted pics in "Fishing Reports", "Pickwick Is On Fire!". Quote
lazeebum Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I just read it! Great report. I will go back one afternoon this week, maybe more. Since I can be on the lake in fifteen minutes, and I get off work at two thirty in the afternoon it ain't no thang for me to go below Wilson dam two or three times a week. Quote
sidsmith03 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 yea I heard it was on fire! Had a friend of mine weigh in a 28.9 sack this weekend with a 10.9 HAWG! another group of friends that I talked to weighed in 21 and finished 15th place! geeeez....and as for me and ol bwhite ^^^^^ we fished for about 6 hours and caught 1 fish about a 1.5 pounder Quote
