jeremyt Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I went out this morning and at launch motor was sluggish. It wouldn't push more than 5500rpms . Boat normally registers around 40 on the speedometer, but wouldnt get above 30 today. I am not a motor guy but don't want to pay mechanic prices right now. Any ideas where to start. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 6, 2012 Super User Posted February 6, 2012 Bad gas, clogged fuel filter or new spark plugs! Those 3 things are the easiest to check! Jeff Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted February 6, 2012 Super User Posted February 6, 2012 Three things create fire. Fuel, Air, and Spark. You need to look at all three. Easiest should be to change out the plugs. A good old fashioned mechanic can look at the old plugs to give you an good idea of what's wrong. After that it's a balance of fuel and air mixture. If you have fresh fuel, then you need to look at filters for obstructions. Finally, it doesn't take a mechanic too long to plug it into the computer to find the problem. Quote
